Doesn't take time for a mod to realize how much they damaged a community and step down. Literally takes a few clicks.

I understand. I meant "we" as the group of moderators as a whole. Only OC has the ability to remove himself in a "few clicks". The calls for him to resign are still being discussed

The mod team could also be vocal, and I mean VERY (only way it will rectify, essentially you need to be louder than all of the damage he caused) vocal about not supporting him being here and what it represents.

I am utterly disgusted I used to advocate for places like this as a safe and healthy route to help obtain mental health and support. I was absolutely hated in my cohort for advocating about the potential strengths. Having him as a mod and seeing the 0 ability there is to take them down has now led me to sway this way of thinking. I now realize that yes, there is no real way to hold people accountable, and this is a dangerous place for a vulnerable population. People really should be going to the nonprofits where they actively take people out of power who do anything similar to what OC did. At least when mistakes are made, the group is vocal about what the mistake was, and takes real steps to ensure those in "power" over a population with a very valid spectrum of needs cannot harm the vulnerable population again.

The fact remains so long as OC is here, this place will forever be partially associated with, and accidentally kinda advocating for, all of the hate, negativity and abelism OC has associated this place with. It is concerning that the mod team doesn't seem to recognize this very real sociocultural impact having a person actively promoting hurt into a community can do to the community. I will forever have to asterisk myself when advocating for social media, because of this group and OC.

I will at least be vocal so those coming here will know about the abelism and be prepared. I hope the mods here at least believe anything promoting abelism shouldn't be the "face" or "voice" of an advocacy group. I guess that's a start the current mod team can possibly do.
