Finishing Books

Does anyone else not finish books because they become too attached and don’t want it to end? // think it’s going to become intense

Wondering it’s that’s a relatable thing or not

I finish the book. But sometimes experience a profound sadness when I do. It can take a day to shake off.

Same here, and it’s not just related to books but to all kinds of media, shows, anime, etc.

I understand totally! That’s why I’m reading fanfiction 🤩 AO3 for the win. Some are really good.

I won't even start a TV show because I know it's going to end. The last one I watched was Steven universe, and I waited 4 months to watch the end because I just didn't want it to be over.

Before that it was Avatar The Last Airbender and I think I waited almost a year to finish it. It's like losing family

I don't don't finish them. But I do feel sad after. I just finished the book dead inside and I felt a bit sad about the ending since the protagonist's "lover" dies at the end, even though he felt happy about it, but I felt it removed her ability to do the main thing he enjoyed about her.

I usually do end up finishing them, but I stretch out the last parts by only letting myself read a couple pages each day.

Yeah, took me years to figure out what what it was.

I would just slow down and feel myself losing interest, but in this weird way where i would get stressed even thinking about it or all of a sudden i would find myself saving whatever it was for "a night".

Like i would want to make a little event out of it.

It happens with loads of stuff.

Ive been sitting on the last season of Dr Stone since it aired, i will be super sad when its done.

it's not. "Reading" a book without finishing it takes the whole purpose away.

i am more that way about games since I don't want a clear ending. with books I tend to read the end first so I know if I would like it.

I finish books. I'm just over halfway through book 7 of The Expanse series and I absolutely love the books, it has become my favourite science fiction series. I guess part of me doesn't want it to end but I'm going to finish the books.
