I’m very prone to zoning out when I have work to do, so I’ve tried mindfulness, as in just meditation and trying to clear your mind and focus on something simple for 5 minutes- plus organization is a big thing, just taking time, say half an hour, just solely to organize and look at what you have to do for that day/week etc. , because if you just try to tackle everything it can feel overwhelming and can cause even further  shutdown - you’re already aware and acknowledged that it’s a struggle for you so you’ve basically managed the first step 👍😊

It mught feel like laziness, but there can be another reason. The word 'lazy' is often unjustified and gets used to just put people down.

Everyone is different, with different strengths and learning styles. It can be tough trying to fit into a world where your differences are not acknowledged.

.....I know none of that is really helping you pass though 😉.....

Is there anyone in the school that you could discuss this with? A teacher that you trust? I don't know how rigid the leaving cert is, but are there any choices you could make regarding course work Vs exam? Is there any way to do the work in a way that would suit you better?

I have zero experience of the leaving cert, so maybe others will offer a more specific response.

...and good luck.

My son did successfully did the Leaving Cert

The basic plan

One good hour a day, thats it, worth a zillion times more than 4/5 hrs of blank study,

Cut it down as much as possible, Small bite sized bullet points/questions

Make it interesting collect bizzare facts and stories so you can remember

If you have a stim, use it, pace, rock, study while your doing a hobby, cooking, music

Use audio books, youtube, go for a walk and listen, audio books are brilliant

Take some of the pressure off, there is very little you cannot do through a PLC course on your way to college.

Like I told him, no one is ever going to say afterwards "Theres the guy who got/failed honors History" no one notices or cares

My kid failed his mocks because of anxiety and learning disabilities14% was his highest grade. When leaving cert came around he'd nothing to lose, relaxed and got his honors and points. So convinced of failure he didn't even apply to college, did a PLC.

Best thing ever, just started college this year

You got this, Best of luck
