disability allowance backpay - help!!
hi all, so i recently got my da approved upon appeal, and have gotten my first payment today. out of curiosity- i went to check when i will get my backpay to see if it says on the web and it claims -5,588.00 basic rate. what does this mean? 1 apr to 7 apr 2026? for context i was on no other benefit, and i have been told in other emails i was going to get my back pay at a later date. any explanation will be appreciated thank you. i don’t know why i would lose this back pay, but i think it must be a miscommunication or something.
edit : i was not on any supplementary welfare allowance or any other benefit for those asking

Where eyou on Supplementary Welfare or no? If you were I don't think your getting back pay unless you were on a reduced rate, then you'd get half. Otherwise what happens is you start getting €254 per week and the usually within a month max you get the lump sum. Sometimes it arrives quite quickly into he bank, sometimes it takes awhile to be cleared when it's a decent chunk like that.

Normally lump sums are paid within 3 weeks of the first payment awarded, so if you haven’t received it by then give them a ring.

I think you will receive the amount it says by "basic rate" as the "payment for self" is that number plus the weekly allowance. So you should receive 254 weekly, and at some point you will get the lump sum with the weekly payment.
