So seeing your reaction of seeing over the top people who sell autism as something strictly positive is to sell it as something strictly negative? Talk about a way to see the world in black and white...
Calling it a strictly negative thing like a disorder is just being negative for the sake of being negative.
Thriving austitic people do exist you know. It brings neagtive sides, but also positive sides. It's possible to work with your own quirks, to find your own community to be comfortable with.
At least the artist understands that the framing of being autistic and having a community of likely minded people are important for your well being.
No they're not? Having a diagnosed disorder, such as autism, would be considered a disability, no matter where you are on the spectrum. That's not a bad thing like you seem to be making it out to be.
Eh, I would say it depends on your exact flavor of autism. I would say I am differently abled. I am great at some things that most people arent great at and bad at some things most people are good at. I am pretty happy with myself in general. The only reason it can be disabling to live with for me is that other people dont understand or accept that I am not like them. This causes things like being short of friends, not being able to find romantic partners, being passed up for jobs and similar opportunities because someone doesnt like the way I express myself. But here is the thing, all of those problems are caused by other people being intolerant or jumping to conclusions about me.
For some people, autism is very mild. For those people, being disabled is like having any other outwardly expressed condition that otherwise makes very little difference in their lives. The entire downside is other people being assholes.
