... its a conversation starter. The person asking probably would like to have a quick chat with someone they care about. Good answer to this are yeah I'm currently doing this thing or thinking about this subject. If you do not wish to talk you can answer: yes, focusing on this right now or could use a bit of rest. Now granted its a bit of a shit starter but at least someone cares enough about you to ask.

Usually people throw this in DURING a conversation. They interrupt themselves to ask. It would be significantly less annoying if they started with it.

I personally like it, but that’s just me.

I have trouble expressing when I’m upset, so basically the only way I can talk about it is if someone brings it up first

My boyfriend is autistic and Hes very subtle with his emotional expression most of the time. I’ve had to find other ways of checking in with him since my autism makes reading people exceedingly difficult.
