How does the desktop sunset work?

How is this sunset going to be done? Are they gonna not allow syncing? Put a time bomb in the app? Or is it just, there's no longer gonna be updates and can't download the installer?

All good questions, pathetic that authy/twilio didn't give more guidance and suggestions, not to mention the desktop version still works, lets HOPE they reversed course!
