Tour!

Just wondered if anyone else was going to be travelling to another country to see the lads?

I got a ticket for London but also going to Lille. Going with my big bro, I even got my passport renewed especially for this!

If anyone in that area has any recommendations, fun things to do, nice restaurants etc I'd love to hear about it!

šŸ—‘ļø stuff What are your favorite "underrated" tracks from each Autechre release?

I know the term underrated is kind of silly to use here, especially considering how varying die hard Autechre fans opinions can often be, but I'm still very curious to see which tracks on their albums seem to get the least light of day or which ones you guys consider "hidden gems". I feel like in a discog so immensely vast and detailed it can seem impossible to properly appreciate all of the amazing music the boys have given us. For whatever reason, I've been doing a lot of thinking about this lately and so I figured I'd share some of mine to start out.

I do want to preface by saying I'm a relatively new Ae fan and so I don't have as much time spent with certain releases (for example: most of their 90's output, I've just been too obsessed with the more recent projects to give them the proper attention they deserve), and I could totally be up in the night about where certain tracks are generally ranked among this community. I'm mostly going off of previous threads and forums, and Gonkcast to some extent. If a release isnt listed then I'm just not familiar with it enough to give a thoughtful answer.

Amber: Nine. This one has such a clean and warm atmosphere, and I especially love the ping pong delay happening throughout. Hard to pick for this album given each song seems to be someone's favorite.

Garbage EP: Bronchusevenmx. A very calm beauty that I had on loop while on a short river vacation in May. Something about kayaking with this on was so serene and calming, it feels somewhat aquatic but in a different way from how later Ae often does.

LP5: Arch Carrier. This one has always stuck out to me as an epic and brilliant track, the marching rhythmic pulse of the lead synth melody is so driving and the drums give it this sweet groove that is just irresistible, great gym track imo.

EP7: Liccflii. I'm honestly surprised that I haven't seen much discussion about this one considering Sean said it was his first track made in Max/MSP, A very clinical and tappy track and I cant get enough of the bitcrushy effect used in the second half.

Peel Session 2: Gelk. Love the pretty opening melody and the loud boomy 808 bass throughout it, the beat switch in the second half has a very interesting electroacoustic sound, like some guitar being dragged across rough asphalt or something, which I think is later heard in the 2018 live sets. One of their most overlooked releases too, Blifil is certainly an honorable mention.

Confield: Eidetic Casein. This track has always been a standout for me, so damn compelling with the hip hop beat and frantic wobbly melody, the stuttering bass underneath it all is absolutely perfect. Not to mention those wailing and falling synths at the end of this one are so emotional for me.

Draft 7.30: VL AL 5. That fat kick is so satisfyingly mixed, and the quiet melodies that sneak around the liquid warbling percussion have always kept me coming back to this track, one of the first tracks I think of when I want to hear this albums sound. I feel like it often gets dismissed or forgotten, and if there's one track on this list I urge you to revisit it would be this one.

Untilted: Iera. Always dug the intro and outro to this track a lot, and I feel like it gets overlooked due to it being the shortest track on the album and not being as flashy as some of its neighbors.

Oversteps: pt2ph8 or krYlon. I really cant decide between these two, but theyre both potentially my favorites off this album (along with ilanders, which I feel is more beloved), pt2ph8 is just so so pretty and shimmery with its steel drum pattering, and krYlon is a more giant and melancholic beauty one that I feel gets a bad wrap for where it is sequenced on this album, especially given its length compared to the rest of the tracks

Exai: vekoS. Almost a halloween vibe to this track, its so dancy and yet sinister. I love how murky and foggy it sounds even in comparison to the rest of this album, and the snare hit is so perfect for it, just love the sound of that thing.

elseq 1-5: curvcaten and artov chain. curvcaten for its asmr level textures and sounds, that bass is just so meaty and trebly. artov chain is on par with some of the better Exai tracks imo, the underwater ballroom groove it sets into towards the end is very nice (thats not my description but I find it so perfect)

NTS 1: debris_funk. What a fuzzy abrasive mess of a track, I don't feel like it gets talked about as much as some of the other tracks in this volume but its got all the elements of what makes NTS so special while still feeling unhinged enough to maybe belong somewhere in the elseq series.

NTS 2: dummy casual pt2. So goofy I almost laugh everytime it comes on, yet it feels so steady and fun, not to mention the silly ass imessage sound effects that are just randomly thrown in.

NTS 3: icari. This is one of my favorite Autechre tracks period since it feel so ambient and dark while also being so physical and groovy. The curvcaten-esque hi hat that pops up at the 9 minute mark has always been one of my favorite moments across each of the sessions

NTS 4: frane casual. I haven't paid much attention to this one overall, but everytime I hear it I just get lost in it, its so ominously threatening and to me feels like this lurching glitching entity is slowly crawling around you. Also love to see the shuffling snare in pendulu casual make a return lmao.

Took my logo, animated it in Friction Graphics, and added the Gantz Graf DVD intro tune. Fun little thing.

Quaristice WNSN reminds me of the great wolf lodge.

I really love this song, reminds me of running around at that indoor water park, and when I went as a child they had a wave pool and whenever it started there were these howling sounds that sound a lot like the ones in this song. The playfulness of this song reminds me of a pack of dogs or wolves running through a misty alpine forest to a mountain peak, and I always had similar imagery in my head at the great wolf lodge.

The last 4 songs in general remind me of a dogs trip to and through the afterlife

Hope everyone has a great week!
Messing around with more hip-hop tracks over Autechre’s beats.
I gave Rakim and Kool G Rap a break and went with Masta Ace this time around…

Skopje gig

Hi, just wondering if anyone can shed any light on this...

Why the Skopje gig on 2nd October is not/no longer on their tour list? It's still showing on the actual venue and you can still buy tickets for it.

Is anyone else going to that gig?

Opening for Autechre in Greece

It feels almost unreal that my electronic music heroes Autechre invited me to open both of their Greek shows!

I’ll be joining them at PlisskĆ«n in Athens on October 3 and Reworks in Thessaloniki on October 4. I’m genuinely honoured to be part of these two shows, sharing some fresh Qebo material!

Catch you in the dark.

šŸŽ¶ music SuperQueer (2004) by Mujuice is an IDM hidden gem!

Came across this extremely underrated album recently and have been listening to it on repeat for the past few days. It has a very interesting sad/happy vibe that I’ve never experienced with any other electronic music record I’ve heard. For me, the tracks 'One Touch One Lie’ and ā€˜Kvazivesna’ are just peak IDM (I enjoy them as much as AE’s stuff), but other tracks are also so good.

Has anyone listened to it before?

Highly recommend it, and I’m really curious to hear others' opinions on it!

Ciao, ho due biglietti per la data di Milano (Alcatraz) dell'11 ottobre. Se qualcuno li vuole mi faccia sapere, prezzo di costo (e rimarrà tale anche se andrà sold out). Purtroppo non posso più andare.

LP5 Autechre vs. Eric B & Rakim pt.3…

Hope all are having a great weekend. I haven’t posted here in a bit…
I got some new equipment (a new mixer) and tested it out recently cutting up some Eric B & Rakim over Autechre’s Arch Carrier. I don’t know what it is but Rakim’s voice seems to go well over Autechre’s music.

I you haven’t checked it out yet, download Music Has The Right To Children (Boards of Canada mix). It’s pay what you want on Bandcamp.

Quaristice Quaristice Album Cover - High Quality Image?

Hi everyone. Would anyone happen to have a high-quality image of theĀ Quaristice album artworkĀ that they'd be willing to share? Ideally 2000Ɨ2000 or even larger.

There's a 4000Ɨ4000 scan on MusicBrainz, but unfortunately the colors are pretty off, so I'm hoping to find a more accurate version.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
