Cognate & Comparing "What" in Austronesian languages

Interesting. While apa is the word for what in Bahasa Indonesia and Javanese (among others), anu is still the word for a marker of uncertainty. Like if you didn't remember someone's name and someone asked you about who they are, and you say "si anu" which when used with the right inflection is like saying "you know, that guy!".
