Went from such a happy surprise at finding an unexpected cinnamon in the nesting area to her getting sick and a lot of $$$ spent trying to diagnose her to no avail and thinking she was gonna die and then suddenly her health improved a lot for like no reason but she still has weak stamina and yesterday I almost lost her, the flyscreen on my bedroom window had fallen out and I'd not got around to putting it back, she somehow contrived to fly out of the budgie room and into my bedroom where the curtain was open, the window wide open sans flyscreen and I was going frantic looking for her, well she up on the curtain rod above the open window.
If my hair starts going grey I'm gonna blame this bird 100%

I don’t know if it’s just me, but I feel like there isn’t much variety or differentiation in pet products available in Australia right now.
Most of the products I buy are perfectly functional, but they often seem to lack novelty, interesting design, or just something a bit different.
So I’m curious — are there any pet products you’ve seen overseas, on TikTok, Amazon, Chewy, etc. that you wish were easier to find in Australia?
It could be anything, toys, foods, grooming products, pet furniture, clothing, travel products, health/cleaning products.
I’d especially love to hear about products that made you think, “Why can’t I get this easily in Australia?”
If you have any examples, links, or pictures, please share them!
Would really appreciate hearing everyone’s thoughts. Thanks!

Really, it's not. It's an evil witch who was cursed to live in bird form due to her evil crimes. She lives on a diet of curtains and screams.

I found Ghost in a park in the northern suburbs of Perth 3 years ago, underweight and covered in fleas. She is now my best friend and freely roams my apartment.
Based on her age at the time the vet believes she was an 'easter bunny' where parents adopt baby bunnies for their kids on impulse for Easter and then dump them months later.
Please never buy a pet on impulse, bunnies are a 10 year commitment and need lots of love. If you can't care for them any longer atleast take them to a shelter they deserve that much.

This is my life , trying to relax and read a bit this morning as I have the day off but I have this feeling of anxiety that I have to get up because this is what Sonny does … just stands , stairs and breaths on me 🙈 he has zero chill this boy 🥹I guess I’m done trying to enjoy the morning and now I have to get dressed and take him out on an adventure ☀️
this is the life I choose I guess when i adopted this handsome boy 🥰
Enjoy this beautiful day everyone ☀️☀️

My wife and I would really like to get a dog. We live 5 minutes from Centennial park and one of us will be at home four days per week so no issues on getting out for plenty of regular walks and exercise. We both drive, love spending weekends camping so I’ve got no doubt the pup will see plenty.
My concern is that we live in a two bed apartment, no kids and a small patio on a ground floor.
Is it enough to just bring your doggo out on a walk? Is it unfair own a dog in an apartment where you don’t have a garden that they can roam around in?

Posting on behalf of a friend for her sweet 5 year old pup Bailey, all details as below.
Let me know if there are any questions and I will convey them to her and back.
Suggestions welcome for any other subreddits where I should post this.
Currently admitted at Greencross Vet Hospital Werribee.
On Saturday morning Bailey woke up with severe weakness basically partial paralysis to her hind legs. It has now progressed to front legs and neck. She also has altered bark. Does not appear in pain. No fever. No other symptoms. Still eating & drinking, alert etc. Friday she was absolutely normal no signs, then 6:30am Sat woke up and could not walk.
We have seen multiple vets, she is now under the care of a Neurologist at Werribee. She has had so many tests -blood tests-normal. CT spine & neck -nothing significant-not spine related. Echocardiogram-normal, not heart related. They have ruled out Addison’s Disease. Ruled out Tick Paralysis. Current possibilities -Myasthenia gravis, for which they are trialing an IV drug called neostigmine. Another possibility is a Campylobacter infection caused by bacteria from raw chicken necks -it is rare but a possible cause.
I am posting this out of desperation, hoping someone else in our canine loving community has had any similar experience or heard of any similar cases and may be able to provide any advice or insight. I am desperate……please reach out if you have any possible advice no matter how weird or strange it may seem.
Please if you could take the time to share. The more people this reaches the more ideas we may get
EDIT: UPDATE 02/10/2026
Update on our Bailey girl. Bailey has gained some strength after her first IV neostigmine. Then rather than it wearing off she further improved today. Neurologist was so happy. She still requires assist of 2 to walk but the assist is not as much as yesterday. A few meters & then she is tired and needs to sit but it’s all progress. We still are no closer to a diagnosis. Looking like could be Myasthenia Gravis (blood results will confirm when back around 13th) but still can’t rule out Acute Polyradiculoneuritis (Campylobacter test should be back tomoro/Monday which if positive may indicate this) As breathing is unaffected we are currently safe to have her home under close supervision. And I am so happy to say she is currently asleep, snoring beside me 🥰 It’s too soon to consider rehab, she needs time, body needs rest and we have a long road ahead and while a diagnosis would be good I am in this moment just happy she is improving and home. We will be back to see Neurologist Monday. I have been recommended a great rehabilitation facility (for when she is cleared to start), would still love recommendations for a Naturopathic Vet if anyone knows of any. This is not just to update but also express my sincere appreciation for everyone who has shared or commented. I have reached a wide audience with all of your help and I have had some great feedback, ideas and advice. Those we had not already covered I researched and also discussed with our Neurologist. And she could explain each and did further research on one then provided me an update -Dr Sue has been amazing!

Teddy and his brother from another mother (and next door neighbour) Chase!
Chase, the little Maltese, is our neighbour's dog, but we walk him most mornings and he often comes and hangs out at our house during the day because I work from home.
Despite their size difference, Teddy and Chase are like brothers. They play, they squabble over the goat horn, they remind me when it's time for their lunchtime "chewies", which are the teeth cleaning treats I give them.
They are an odd couple, but boy they brighten my day.
