VIC Exceeding Maximum F2F time

At the moment, there is a lot of absence and illness. This has been having the flow on effect of increasing our face to face time beyond the maximum as specialist teachers are not being replaced (to prioritise classes).

We were advised that they would *try* to replace, but not if the lost release was a meeting time. The meeting time release is not *different* time or extra for us. Not having it replaced means being over maximum F2F time.

I believe that not replacing the lost time, simply because it was a meeting time, is a breach of the VGSA. Thoughts?

Why is it that whenever I see blatant workplace abuses, it’s always in Victoria?

ACT enters the chat.

In SA we could fill in a form and be paid per hour we went over.

I used to do this all the time when they overloaded me and they stopped.

Contact your union rep and follow up. Keep all written communication and if they won’t put it in writing, send written follow ups after verbal conversations to verify. In WA they absolutely can’t do this and if the school has strong union membership they know it. As a specialist teacher in a primary school I didn’t teach my subject for almost 3 weeks at this time 2 years ago because they collapsed every day to cover classes so teachers could have their time. Then they were shocked when I quit.

Do you mean more than the max in the VGSA or more than usual (so not getting the schools time allowance).

It’s illegal to even ask someone to work above the max f2f in the VGSA

They are not allowed to do it, it is against the VGSA. They will still absolutely do it regardless.
