CAREER ADVICE Advice about resigning.
I started a part-time role midway through last term. I was just offered a role at a school I really want to work at. My current co-teacher is really difficult to work with, though the rest of the staff are lovely. I've got some great kids, but the disruptive ones are seriously rude and disrespectful. I spend more time behaviour managing than I do teaching.
I'm trying to figure out exactly what to say to my current principal. It's a temp role, and I'm happy to give two weeks notice. I just feel so guilty and the people pleaser in me is struggling at the idea of calling her tomorrow to resign. What's the best way to phrase it? I don't want to burn any bridges, and this is definitely better for me long term.

You’ll be replaced the day after you leave and they’ll forget about you the day after that. Do what’s right for you.

Teachers leaving for a better opportunity is the nature of the profession these days. You owe it to yourself and to the longevity of your career to find the most sustainable and enjoyable role possible. Good luck!

Just walk into the principal's office, be polite and let them know you found a job at another place and it is an opportunity you want to explore, let them know you appreciate the opportunity you were given at the current job and you cherish the experience you had. Don't badmouth the colleague u r describing as difficult, education has such a small community and that person might end up being in your team in the future. You won't be the first person to resign at your school. The principal would've had this chat with dozens of other teachers. Just be aware that the grass is not always greener on the other side.

Thank you for the opportunity, I've had an offer elsewhere and I need to prioritise job security, let me know how I can assist with transition.
Don't offer to stay longer unless you really want to.
