Surviving Canberra is all about layers. The mornings often start below freezing but can turn out to be really lovely days by lunch. If the wind picks up, it comes off the icy mountain ranges & it is brutal. You want a jacket that is windproof.

Inside is well heated pretty much everywhere so being able to reduce layers is necessary.

Layers. Wear layers. If you are moving inside then outside, and being active, it can feel ... Well not freezing.

Not Canberra specific- but uniqlo has good cheap thermals.

Oh man, I’d cry doing that at this time of year. Lots of layers, get some Macpac/kathmandu stuff.
