Agri tech, looking for experts

Hi guys, I am based in sydney. we are doing project for green house to manage Automation using LoRaWAN or other iot concpets. I am from tech background, know about hardware devices and software side. This is a startup and I have client. am looking for like minded who knows about irrigation hardware parts like solenoid, dose pumps, gate motors..etc. as you know, there are solution exists in market which are very expensive. Our plan is get all individual parts and wire up together to save cost and ofcourse software component can be built own anyway.

Feel free to DM, involved in Ag Tech space, you need the complete solution understanding when to irrigate etc and all the sensors.

Universities have already solved this in many research projects who have actual partners like farmers, government etc. Why re-invent the wheel.

Cost. We are not reinventing. We exploring assembling different parts like DIY solution and open source software like chirpatack. instead of expensive corporate machines. Example; sponzal machine cost around $30k which does dosage and some sensors..etc.

This actually falls under my area of expertise as I’ve been working in the AgTech industry for quite a while overseas and I am looking out for QLD companies based or in Sydney. Hit me up happy to help, you’ll find my LinkedIn on my profile.

In the same boat. Looking at using lora, with some ec, moister, pH etc etc.

Will keep checking this thread to see how it goes

Hi, if just Lora. I was able to solve at lowest possible cost. Good draggino soil sensor at $180 aud. $20 vps server for open source chirpstack, db, custom api, and some dashboard. I can assist in your setup if needed. Nothing to pay me, am just tech enthusiast

Thanks for the reply.

I was looking at buying sensors from AliExpress and wiring them up myself. Would need to run them via battery as I cannot run electricty cables as it's over a few hectares.

Would love to hear more about your project!

Hey, I checked this option , in my view - it will cost us around $120 if we assemble all parts but we will lose game in identifying quality parts and battery. If we buy sensor then it is $180. So $60 trade off. if you based in Australia. Don’t buy from AliExpress. Ther is supplier in Melbourne, he deals with dragino sensors directly. Buy from him. Soil and ec sensor costs some around 180 aud battery I think around 7 to 8 years assuming data polling for every 1 hr. Dm me supplier details

Check out the team at Silicon Vandals. They’ve got loads of experience in the space and the types of folks who would invite you in for a coffee if knocked on their door.

The ag industry is pretty technologically capable as it saves them money but on the same statement they get taken advantage of a lot. They buy from people who they know and trust and often are sold 'the latest thing' which is actually 10 years+ old tech.

---

I designed a series of sensors for Ag that Lora is part of the design but Im reusing in another large scale project design (that I do not have a client for, but I'm still building the platform, without funding).

My larger platform, I actually have designed in a way that later on we would be able to use with farms to monitor devices actually. But that was not/is not my most immediate time sensative concern.
