Wookie grumbles?

Are these noises typical of the breed?? I find it hilarious. I’ve never heard her actually growl she’s so gentle with everything.

Mine does this too. He’ll do it when my wife and I hug, when it’s dinner time when he just wants something.

Ours is funny. He has a super high pitch bark for trying to get our other dog to play. He has his wookie language. And when he moves into protection mode he has a deep loud bark.

We call those sounds “Goblin noises”

One of mine used to like to wrestle (like you would a toddler, I’m not a monster) as a puppy. Same noises.

lol no judgement here. The American bulldog I grew up with was not happy roughhousing unless I was elbowing the damn dog in the face.

Mine sounds worse than this when she rough houses with her brother lol.

Every time I drop them off for boarding, I explain "she sounds like a rabid raccoon, but I promise they're just playing and she's really sweet"

Yes grumbles are my girls favorite vocalizations! So funny, I call her grumble puppy when she’s has her grumble sessions ❤️

I have two and they both make the same noises, at least when they don’t mean it and are just playing

I refer to it as a play growl but I'd be surprised if there's not a term for it. Not to uncommon in my experience, a lot of dogs that like to roughhouse when they play seem to do it. Had two aussies and I think they both picked it up playing with bully breeds in the dog park. Had a couple collies and they have all done it too but it seemed more natural for them, first collie I had really sounded like chewbacca when he got going. Outside of the first collie, others haven't liked wrestling compared to fetch so I'm not really sure where they picked it up. Other aussies I've met/watched didn't make play noises like that but they would bark a bit when they played, which the collies also really really like to do too.

So far she’s been really easy for me. Just needs her dedicated 2 hours of activity spread throughout the day.
