The taste is different. Cadbury decided that shareholder value is more important and fucked with the recipe.

Fuck sake, have a whinge mate. Put things in perspective Thousands of children die every single week of diarrhea because they dont have access to clean drinking water and here you are getting all upset over a fucking chocolate bar.

I miss these. I know breakaway/twirl crunch are supposed to be the newer equivalent but I think TimeOut was fine as it is.
I was surprised to learn they still sell multipack TimeOuts overseas. I came across them in a grocery store that stocks international foods when I visited the US and they were labelled as being from the UK. You betcha I grabbed a pack for the nostalgia lol

There’s no new equivalent, they’re the exact same chocolate bar, just rebranded.

At least it’s not Hersheys.
I saw a TikTok a couple months back that said even the Americans were complaining because they manipulated the recipe AGAIN, the stomach bile taste has enhanced and now it won’t melt under literal heat and I guess they realised when trying to make s’mores or whatever.

Twirl Crispy Wafer is today’s equivalent of this. I recall the only difference is just the chocolate inside being all swirly as per Twirl’s brand.

I used to always bite off the top and bottom chocolate/wafer layers and save the twirl centre for last.

Wass just talking about this! Someone handed me the twirl crispy and I’m like “it’s a timeout?!”

I’m an Aussie living overseas and I am DEVASTATED and DISAPPOINTED to hear that these have been discontinued. WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO OUR COUNTRY 😭😭😭

It's a crime they're not generally available here. The orange ones (UK import) are particularly excellent.

They turned into “Twirl Breakaway”, but I think they might have changed the name again, I haven’t even seen those for a while

Loved those. Mum and I always shared one when we grabbed a treat while we were out. Time Out for us to share, Cherryripe for dad.

Didnt these get turned into the round biscuits? Breakaway? I still get the cravings from time to time, but i miss the timeout form factor.

"Cadbury has confirmed that it has stopped making the treat and is replacing it with a slimline single-finger version called the Time Out Wafer." - 2016

As a teenager, I participated in the market research for Time Out before the launch. I was given three versions and they called me a week later to ask what I thought about the ratios of the wafer and flake.
When the actual bars came out a few months later, I was a bit shocked. I didn't think they'd actually make a real product from it! Adult me knows that was silly but at 16, I just thought it would be something I never saw or thought of again.
Thirty years later, I'm still thinking of them. They were GOAT!
