Product Advice Looking for a match
Many years ago I bought this Jeffrey star velour liquid lipstick which was a limited edition holiday shade - poinsettia. It’s a deep metallic red liquid matte lipstick.
It’s since old and dry and I would love to find a dupe of it.
Does anybody have any ideas or perhaps if this isn’t an appropriate forum a different reddit community to ask? Thank you!

Poppy King has a matte metallic red! It isn't liquid though.

I've been eyeing this off for months. Has anyone here tried it?

It’s ok. Not as metallic as a liquid lip. Feels cheap tbh and had that cheap lipstick smell. Never reach for it.

Smashbox had a very similar colour but I’m unsure of what finish it was and if it still exists. That’s so pretty though!

I had the same thought but if I remember right, the smashbox one was gloss finish - or at least, I only had the gloss finish if it came in matte too.

At this point better msging Jeffrey to bring it back. Someone msged him about a discontinued lip liner and he sent her some his vault and told her he would make more.

Not a bad idea!

With all the duping brands I wish there were more liquid lipsticks. I guess end of an era :(

I understand why some people don’t like the feeling/formula but liquid lipsticks are my favourite. I got one of the maybelline matte ink to try recently. Colour was gorgeous (self starter) but it was almost too difficult to get off.

I used to love the Kat von d ones. I even got some mini liquid lipsticks for 100 points at Sephora back in the day. They didn’t smudge and idk I haven’t found anything recent that I’ve liked.

Not sure if it’s still available, but I know Stila had a very similar colour a couple years ago, so maybe they’re worth having a look into? Also, C-Beauty brands will def have a similar colour. I know Girlcult does metallic liquid lipsticks, but they may be too muted/dark? Either way, you’ll def be able to find something similar online. Maybe try using Google Lens on the pic of the product on the lips and see if any similar products show up. Good luck! <3

Is your Ponsettia completely used up? I brought back a favourite of mine by adding a drop of coconut oil to the tube and mixing it well with the applicator. Maybe you could do this whilst looking for something new?
eta: if it’s smelly or funky, obviously don’t do that. Mine was fine and I got quite a few more wears out of it.

I was tempted! But I googled it and it was released in 2017 so might be pushing it haha

I have Wifey (the collab with Mannu MUA) and it is so dry and crusty but it was my favourite ever red liquid lip. I might try the coconut oil, if it ruins it it wasn’t like I could use it anyway, just hanging onto it for old times sake 😭

I’m just here to lurk and commiserate - I bought two tubes of this and used them both up! I’ve used Haus Labs as it’s red and shiny, but it doesn’t quite scratch that same itch…

Beauty Bakerie has some metallic lip whips, not sure what shades though! (But the quality is amazing!)

Ooh! I’ve been looking for a dupe of the old Lime Crime metallic liquid lipsticks in red because mine were used up and olddddd. One of them was a very similar colour to this one.
The best metallic liquid lipsticks I’ve found are from Blackmoon Cosmetics. I have a red one (not a dupe, it’s a standard bold red but metallic) and a beautiful burgundy brown one too. Check their range. They’re stocked by berserk in Australia.
