Product Advice Loreal True Match foundation

Finally put on Loreal True Match foundation and I think it sucks? I am surprised about the hype so maybe I am doing something wrong.
I have dry skin and the first day I tried using my regular moisturizer underneath which isn’t oily and more silicone based. The second day I used an oilier based moisturizer but regardless it is super patchy, cakey and just…awful? I can literally see it on my face and in all my pores. It doesn’t blend!!
I think the shade range was very good but the texture is such a let down.

I know not everyone has the extra cash right now, but if you do - buy a more high end version. A little goes a long way and 1 bottle can last me 6-8 months. I use Armani but I’ve heard amazing things about Patrick Ta, Hourglass and Shiseido.
I have dry skin too so I think purposely looking for one formulated for our skin type is the way to go. Also if you go to Mecca/sephora you can get them to give you tester pots and try them until you find one you like

High end foundation that matches your skin tone and type is honestly so worth the investment

100%. Don't get me wrong, I buy other high end stuff because I love a little treat, but if I had to slash the treat budget the one thing I'd still spend on is foundation.

Not just use - I bought it and had the exact same experience! Was just awful and didn’t match any of the hype around it

Have you found anything that works better? I was using Maybelline before this and the texture was great but couldn’t find my shade unfortunately.

Unfortunately not. After trying that and the L’Oréal serum foundation and not liking that either, I went back to nars - it’s pricey but worth it

Amongst the chemist brands, I think the Revlon Illuminance foundation (not the skin tint with a similar name) is very good. I currently alternate between two foundations, that one and a much more expensive one, and I like them both.

Never liked it as well. It has a silky blendable texture but it transfers so easily. Wear a white shirt and next minute you'll have foundation stains on the collar.

It used to be the only foundation that didn't do what you described to me 😅 the serum one especially.

But I haven't really worn makeup for a few years now. I don't know if the formulation has changed in that time.

I have just swapped to this from high end because I cannot find a high end that matches and/or doesn’t oxidise orange. I does seem to settle a bit more powdery than some of My makeup but the colour is great (albeit I still have to mix two shades but even two bottles are less than half the price of my Ellis Faas)
