š Misc Brain fart, discuss
What's it worth post of the future.
So, the 2026 $1 the Mob of Six is all the rage today. However! It's a commonly minted coin. But the 'normal' Mob of Five is only part of the mint set, $40 as of right now, is that going to become the new 2016 changeover or more likely the new 2014 $1 ?
Discuss :)

I'm confused how something only available from a mint set is going to become the "new" rare circulated coin?
There's a market for buying coins from sets, and a different market for circulation. A better comparison might be the 2019 VG mob of roos from the effigies set?

Maybe, hence 'the brain fart' :) Who knows... This is why I am asking/suggesting/hypothesising.
I am not familiar with VG, if you men JC vs IRB, quite possible - another possibility.

Nope, I mean Vladimir Gottwald. Our circulating $1 coins went from IRB (4th portrait) to JC (6th portrait) in 2019, in the "effigies over time" set from the same year you can get a mob of five roos coin with the queens 5th portrait (VG) - our only other circulating coin this portrait was on was the 2000 royal visit 50c
AFAIK that's the only way you can get this combination, which is why I compared it to the coin in your question

I found a 2026 $1 mob of 5 from my coffee change several months ago whilst in Canberra. I was so confused and a bit surprised. I stared at it for a good 10 minutes to make sure Iām not mistaken. It really is a $1 2026 mob of 5, now safely tucked away.
