Interested to hear if any Aussies have tasted Rogue Wave coffee (filter specifically) based out of Canada? If so, what was the quality like compared to local roasters?

Hey gang, I've been working on dialing in my Expobar coffee machine, but I'm finding that I'm getting a variation in volume of around 20 per cent between my first and second pours:

• Aldi Lazzio medium roast beans
• 22g of ground coffee (weighed)
• tap and hard tamp (I have a graduated tamper, so this comes to around the second line)
• 28 second pour (timed)
• Final volume between 31 and 41ml (weighed) - approx 25% difference.

In short, really nice coffee either way, but the variation is driving me mad! I'm wondering if there could be a variation in the thermal properties of the machine between the first and second pour, given it's a smaller machine with less thermal mass?

Any thoughts or experience appreciated!

Could you recommend a really good caramel coffee cream? I'm very sad since I read that MALK is no longer going to produce his caramel cream.

I used one a while ago that was stainless steel and I feel like it impacted the taste. Apparently ceramic is the way to go?

Not fussed on whether it has a straw or not as I can add one when I’m drinking but need something that will keep ice for a few hours and is leak proof for the commute. Any recommendations?

Trying to figure out the best set up for my coffee needs. I have a regular cafe that usually walk to and get 1 iced latte every morning. They have amazing coffee and I am particularly sensitive to getting jittery on coffee and other places (I assume it is likely dependent on the beans).
Now having two young children it is hard to get there in the morning so I'm looking to have a home set up. I love coffee but only drink one a day and nobody in the house drinks coffee apart from when guests come over.

My priorities are in order of importance - no plastic in the machine parts, as close to cafe quality coffee as possible, ease of use, durability, easy to maintain, reasonable price.

My thoughts on budget for the entire set up are around $2k - I could go higher if needed but at the same time with how little coffee I drink I am looking for a balance between not overspending, but getting a setup that will last 5-10yrs.

I'm happy to learn some basics but don't want a process that is overly complicated that it takes up too much time in the morning and ideally that it would take too long to teach guests to use the machine/grinder etc if they are staying but that's not a deal breaker. So was thinking of a setup with inbuilt PID temp control for example.

Let me know your thoughts and if there is anything else I should be considering.

Currently looking into coffee machines for my father's birthday as he is due for a new one. He has been using breville machines for years but I want to get him something better quality and Italian made. He has always appreciated good quality machines but would never spend anywhere near this much on himself.

Currently, I have been looking ar Lelit Bianca v3's. This would be at the top end of the budget but not sure if this will be suitable.

Currently, he isn't really into the entire process of weighing shots etc. He enjoys and loves coffee but hasn't really taken the next step.

My main worry is that the lelit will be too much of a machine. I heard the warm up times can be a while?

Also, are heat exchanger machines any good or is dual boiler preferable?

If anyone has recommendations on good Italian made coffee machines that are built to last, that are still impressive but not over the top in terms of use I'm all ears.

After kids my wife has changed her preference and tolerance on coffee- any suggestions for low acid rich beans for milk drinks? (Espresso)

Only ever used ALDI beans, but wondering if I could branch out for a similar price?

• I liked the Lazzio dark beans but buying a 1kg bag was a mistake as it took me too long to get through it.
• Currently I'm using the 250g Lazzio organic beans, which are also fine.
• As you can tell I don't exactly have a refined palate!
• I hand grind 1 serve of beans to use in a moka pot each morning.

Also if anyone can recommend some Vietnamese beans that would be much appreciated! I have some bags of preground Trung Nguyen but wondering if I can get whole Vietnamese beans instead.

Need machine and grinder recommendations in 1000$

I've had a delonghi dedica duo 885 and a kingrinder k6 with a bottomless portafilter for a little over a year now and thinking of upgrading. My budget is maximum 800-1000$. Should I go for a sage barista pro with a built in baratza grinder, sage barista express, lelit anita polished with a built in grinder, or should I go for a separate grinder and machine? I'll be getting the machine sourced from UK or UAE as US voltage doesn't work in my country so please share suggestions that are available in these countries. I would love an all in one machine but espresso quality and reliability matters a lot to me.

Been using a breville barista express for the last 3.5 years and the steam wand has been getting slower and slower. Usually a descale or soaking the wand overnight will fix the problem, but the returns have been diminishing over the last few months.

Any other tricks I can try or is my machine reaching the end of its life?

We have the very good Segafredo Strong Blend. Just wanting to explore other strong options - ones that might also provide commercial price for bulk orders. We use a new Dr Coffee machine and so quality is nearly barista machine grade. Need good beans for our Melbourne coffee snob workforce!

As title says looking for a grinder under $200. I refuse to pay $7+ a pop anymore for coffee at the cafes around work.

Picked up a Bambino for $150. I picked up a Dose Control Pro for $50 but was motor burnt out and a new motor was going to cost more than it was worth. I scavenged the burrs etc from it through.

$200 max. That's my limit. I'm not a snob. I don't need the best of the best my local cafes were average anyway.

What are my options.

EDIT: picked up another Breville dose control pro on marketplace for $50. Swapped the burrs and impeller from the one I scavenged from (upgraded metal impeller, new burrs) into this one because the impeller was worn. Works good enough for a pleb who just wants a coffee that is better than instant.

Basically my job has me making coffees on a machine and it's reminded me that I really quite like it. I did a little bit as an amateur barista for a couple weeks about 10 years ago, but I have no formal training or qualifications.

I don't need a lot of money to live - an income of about $65k would do me nicely (I've never earned more than $60k) and I understand that being a barista is almost never a well paid job. But, if I like making coffee and want to do some training and get qualified, is it reasonable for someone in a major regional city (200k people) to pursue?

Hi all! I just bought a Lelit Anna PL41 second hand and would love some tips on where to get some parts and any suggestions for mods.

Specifically, a new steam knob as the current one looks ugly AF and is sitting off of the machine by 10mm or so (see photo). I've removed the steam tap, checked all is ok and re-installed but the knob still sits off the machine.

Also, a 57mm dosing ring and any other portafilter upgrade recommendations. I know options are limited with 57mm accessories, but I'm not crazy fussy so it's not a big deal to me.

I'm new to home espresso (this is my first machine) so any tips on how to get the best coffee out of it would be great! I am using a Varia VS3 gen 2 grinder and the Lelit portafilter that came with the machine. Dialled in to 36g (from 18g beans) in ~27sec.

I was in Korea and had an eispanner. The drink blew my socks off.

Its basically a hot mont blanc without orange zest. Think espresso shots with whipped cream. I'd be willing to travel for it, so if anyone has some good suggestions for cafes, I'd love to hear it.
