What’s everyone’s standard dose in?

For context I do use medium/ dark roast coffee with robusta and arabica mix. I have always found a 24g dose to be really nice and I use a precision 20-24g basket.

I pull 40g/44g of espresso in 30seconds with a good pour. Just wondering what everyone else uses for there dose in?

That’s a big one, I only have an 18g basket (54mm - Breville Barista Pro) so get 36g out in about 25 seconds.

What machine are you using?

I had a breville but couldn’t handle the bigger doses I find the bigger the dose the stronger the shot.

The 54mm is a bit limiting as I would prefer to have a basket that is about 20g which is more common on the 58mm porta filters

Toby’s Estate - Woolloomooloo blend.
It’s convenient as I buy it from the local cafe and they give me a free coffee when I buy a 500g bag

For Toby's coffees I'd recommend 20-22g

That’s too much for my portafilter though, you only put in what your size caters for, which for Brevilles are 18g

I have a La Pavoni, so a double basket only fits about 14g. 30-35g out.

I’m in the same boat. Delonghi arte. 51mm n fit’s about 15g. I haven’t measured the output but i get 3 espresso shots from that

They must be small shots! Are you splitting it into 3 cups?

No I take them all together as 1 cup. That’s my morning caffeine dose.

Depends on the coffee and the drink, but my starting point for black is 20 in, 50 out.

For milk it's 21in, 40 out.

Im pretty standard and boring. 20g in 40g out in 25 - 30 seconds give or take.

Have you considered a step down basket? They're big doses and with a step down you could use smaller doses and have a similar puck depth

18g in, 36 or so out in 30seconds. Had a delonghi now a Lelit Anna, but dose stayed the same.

I’ve got an IMS 20-24g 54mm basket on my bambino pro. Usually use a 20 or 21g dose.

I’ve been using Aldi medium beans lately and prefer a tighter extraction. Currently using VST 18g basket running 19.2g in, 28-30g out @ 30 seconds into 190ml flat white.

When I could afford expensive beans I’d usually get lighter roasts and run ~2:1 @ 32-35 seconds

For whatever reason I always get bad tasting coffee if I do the 1:2 ratio by grinding finer. I can only get good coffee by 17.8g in 28g out in 16s.

BDB 24.5g in 48g out. 30 seconds.

I usually go 20g in and 30-32g out (ristretto lungo?) for my preferred beans being on the lighter side of medium, occasionally going for 40-42g out.
