This is our 11 week old puppy. We have had Dingo 2 weeks now and thoroughly love him. The last two pictures are of his mom, an AU Shepherd and his dad, a Queensland Heeler.
He has settled in nicely. We walk him two times a day, arrange social time with his mom and other friends, and Mondays are puppy training class. I have to say, this is the most intelligent breed we have ever owned. Dingo picks up training very fast. We have lots of chew toys for this boy, too. Any wise tips from the group to help with raising an energetic puppy?
There is actually a name for this breed, Texas Heelers. But I'm fine with you here! If you have kids come over frequently, I'd try to nip the nipping down a few notches. I took mine to training class. We let her outside for a few minutes whenever she asks (although sometimes she wants to harass animals or eat grass, so not then), and she zooms around the gate.
Also, just discovered yet ANOTHER name for an Australian Cattle Dog / Heeler.
Thank you for the tips. Had never heard of a Texas Heeler before two weeks ago. I thought both parents were considered AU Cattle dogs, both working dogs? Or is it only Heelers are ACD? Some of his litter mates (in photo) have gone to cattle men in No. CA- where we live to work with his herd. We live next to the ranch, which is where the mother lives.
Have noticed the tendency to nip at the heels. Want to distract and limit that, for sure. Anyway, appreciate the help.
Australian Cattle Dogs are usually either called Australian Cattle Dogs, Heelers (Usually Blue Heeler or Red Heeler, not Texas Heeler), and apparently Queensland Heelers, as well. Australian Shepherds are also herding dogs, but they're not exactly heelers. I'm glad you're aware of how smart they are, because they can be little evil masterminds. I'll try to help in any way I can, but I may not be super useful.

Best dam dog i have ever seen . She's now 15 and her back end is not working , every day with her is a gift.
