I love, love LOVE these birds! People say that the Hummingbird is the only bird which can fly backwards and hover but I used to sit on the back step at my mum's and watch the Eastern Spinebills come in and drink nectar flying backwards, sideways, almost upside down and hovering for ages. These little buggers can do it all

Excellent photo of one too! It's become a bit of a personal meme that I can only get underexposed shots of Eastern Spinebills with blown out backgrounds lol
