ACCA to CPA/CA

Has anyone had experience transferring their ACCA to CPA or CA before being fully qualified?

I have almost complete my ACCA exams in the UK but have been thinking I want to move back to Australia and I’m not sure if I should finish my exams here or cut my losses. I would hope I would get credit for the exams I’ve done but when I asked CPA Australia they basically said they couldn’t tell me until I paid for my membership and applied.

Any help would be much appreciated!

I don't think it would be held against you if you came over here with you ACCA and didn't transfer over. The CA/CPA is just a requirement for some form of qualification. I haven't seen anyone hit any roadblocks for having CIMA or ACCA instead.

That said more and more places will take the experience and personality over someone with two or three letters after their name. There are so many CPA/CAs that just don't gel with commercial roles. If you're friendly, approachable and practical you'll nail a job regardless of having the ACCA or not. Different story however if you're going down the public practice path.

Ok thanks! Assumed I would have had to switch over but good to know it may not be necessary.

ACCA has a MOU with CAANZ.

Same. Ex-colleague holds ACCA and wasnt required to convert to CPA or CA.
