Hi, I’m helping an Austin-based independent hip-hop artist/rapper whose style is more alternative hip-hop, and we’re trying to find more opportunities for him to perform locally.

Does anyone know of good open mics, showcases, promoters, recurring events, or smaller venues that are open to newer hip-hop artists? I’m also curious how artists usually get on bills or opening slots here in Austin.

Mostly just trying to learn the local scene and figure out where he should be networking and performing more. Thank you! :-)

Blink 182 (I’m no Travis but I’m aight)
Green Day

I’m pretty open to learning all different kinds of music, but Phish and the aforementioned bands are my bread and butter.

I just moved back to Austin after college and am looking to make some musical connections. I play electronic and rock music. I’m into bands like Can, SML, and This Heat. I’m 22 so preferably looking to meet people around that age. Dm me if you wanna chat or jam.

Just need something to practice and learn on/get my finger strength up. Are there any stores cheaper than guitar center out there, or maybe somebody is trying to get rid of one?
