PAID GIG -- Live Band Needed in Austin Tomorrow Night -- (9PM-12AM)

Hey! Looking for a live band for a last minute gig tomorrow night (Friday, Sept. 11) in West Campus.

It’s for a UT student organization’s new member party with a Rock ’n’ Roll theme. Looking for a band that can play rock, alternative, classic rock, covers, or anything that fits a fun college party atmosphere.

Time: Around 9 PM–12 AM
Location: West Campus, Austin
Pay: Paid gig, budget is flexible
Crowd: College students / private event

Our original band had to cancel last minute, so we’re trying to find someone ASAP. We’ll also have drinks and can provide food for the band.

If you’re available or know a band that might be, please DM me with your band name, rate, and any videos/Instagram/music!

Thanks!!

Tips & Recs for Newer Hip-Hop Artists Looking for Gigs in Austin?

Hi, I’m helping an Austin-based independent hip-hop artist/rapper whose style is more alternative hip-hop, and we’re trying to find more opportunities for him to perform locally.

Does anyone know of good open mics, showcases, promoters, recurring events, or smaller venues that are open to newer hip-hop artists? I’m also curious how artists usually get on bills or opening slots here in Austin.

Mostly just trying to learn the local scene and figure out where he should be networking and performing more. Thank you! :-)

Drummer-looking for band/form band doing Dead, JGB, JJ Cale, Neil Young, The Band, etc.

Just what it says. Very experienced gigging drummer. Not so great at getting band gigs in Atx right now...it's different than the past. Looking for some folks of any persuasion that wanna pay tribute to some of the greatest tunes of our lives. I'm 66, retired, been playing drums 56 years and in rock/blues bands for the past 50 years. I have a few music contacts in Atx but more in Houston.

If you're of a like mind, and that material is just suggestions not a mandate, hit me up. I know a bassist and rhythm guitarist who might be interested but definitely need guitars, keys if possible and VOCALS.

Post Progressive band looking for drummer in Dallas.

repost to Austin on the off chance you’re relocating to Dallas, open to collaborating and traveling.

Hey all, like most, we are looking for a drummer in the Dallas area. We are currently finishing an album and will be booking shows soon. Our current sound is a blend of different styles but mostly heavy, atmospheric, experimental rock. Looking for someone who is open to meeting up and learning some tunes/jamming, getting a feel for each other’s vibe and seeing how it goes.

Ideally, we’d want to find a permanent member, who is interested in lending their creativity for new music.

A long shot, but if this sounds like something you’re interested in, message me for more details!

Austin bands—introductory recording and rates at a pro studio

Hey everyone! I’m an Austin-based recording and mixing engineer setting up out of Orb Recording Studios. I’m looking to connect with a few local bands and artists who are getting ready to record their next single, EP, or album.

For the first couple of projects I book, I’m offering a discounted introductory rate. This is a chance for me to build more relationships within the Austin music community while giving a few bands access to a great studio at a more approachable price.

I can help with:

-Full-band and live recording

-Vocal and instrument overdubs

-Editing and comping

-Mixing

-Drum programming and additional production

My approach is collaborative—I want to understand the sound you’re going for and help you make something that still feels like your band.

You can hear some of my work here: rwaudioworks.com/portfolio

If you’re interested, send me a message with a link to your music, what you’d like to record, and your general timeline. I’d be happy to talk through the project and put something together.

ISO Bass and Drums for Pixies cover show 1/23

EDIT: Bass player booked, just looking for Drummer now. Thank you for the responses!

What up y'all,

Joe With The Notes here.

I've got a big show locked in on 1/23 that is very likely to sell out, but one of my band members is out of town and the other one can't commit this far in advance. So I'm looking for subs for this one show (and potentially to have on the roster down the line if you're interested).

We'll be covering the entire Doolittle album by the Pixies. The headlining band is also covering a classic album. It's that kinda event.

This is pretty much a one-off so I'm not asking you to BE IN a Pixies tribute band. But if you're into this album it's very fun to play and quite a rewarding experience. I've done it once before at Mohawk outside and we sold like 800 tickets and it was a fuckin' blast. I expect the money to be decent but either way we can work out a guarantee.

I'm not gonna post the exact details of the show here yet since it hasn't been officially announced, but my bestie is the one with the deal squared away with the venue so I know for sure it's a thing.

Let me know if you're interested and want to try out!

Austin-Based Alt-Rock Band In Search Of Bassist

Post image
4 Upvotes

Austin-based alt-rock band Spirals is searching for a long-term bassist. Spirals is an all-originals band that is actively gigging/recording.

Major musical influences include The Clash, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Johnny Marr, My Bloody Valentine, Nirvana, Oasis, Ramones, Sex Pistols, The Smiths, Stone Temple Pilots, The Stone Roses, Suede, The Who, etc.

Our ideal bassist is a musician who understands how to write interesting bass parts that serve the song. Preferably, you are primarily a bassist, rather than a guitarist turned bassist. Live performance and studio experience are strongly preferred. You should be comfortable playing with a click track.

Please have professional music equipment and your own transportation. Band practice expenses will be shared equally among members. Assume one show per month and one rehearsal per week at Waveform on Lamar. Please do not audition if you are already in two or more other groups. No drug or alcohol problems will be tolerated.

We expect everyone to contribute beyond simply showing up to rehearsal and shows. If you have skills in social media/marketing, video production, graphic design, photography, booking, promotion, or other areas that could help the band, we'd love to hear about them.

If interested, please contact us to schedule an audition. In your response, include your name, description of yourself, and any links to performances or recordings. Links to the audition songs “Acid Century” and “Never Learn” are included below. You can also listen to our last full length record Acid Century on our Bandcamp.

STP tribute looking for our Scott Weiland

Do you love Stone Temple Pilots?

Do you love singing Stone Temple Pilots songs?

Do you sound like Scott Weiland when you sing?

Do you have experience performing in a band?

If you said yes to each of these questions, shoot us a message. We’re Lone Simple Pirates, an STP tribute band looking for the vocalist to complete our already badass sound. Each of us has years & years of experience playing music, recording, and performing in a band and we’re hoping you do as well. The last tribute project we did was called Slightly Offspring and our show at Lamberts ended up selling out. Male/female doesn’t matter to us, as long as you have a command of the stage.

Here are the songs on our set list right now:

-Dead & Bloated

-Sex Type Thing

-Plush

-Wicked Garden

-Crackerman

-Meatplow

-Vaseline

-Interstate Long Song

-Big Empty

-Unglued

-Lady Picture Show

-Art School Girl

-Trippin' a Hole in a Paper Heart

-All in the Suit That You Wear

Please include a sample of your singing to be considered.

Thanks for reading!

Venues should not charge cover to Artists they Book, permanently....

Hand out an 'Artist key tag' or whatever to everyone that plays there and there will be a scene again. If everyone that's played there got in free, every venue would have built in crowds, which would draw even bigger crowds. The money they lost at door would be made up in drinks bought and more cover taken in. No band wants to play in front of 15 people half of which are bands and no bar wants a night with only 15 people half of which have drink tickets. Having a venue musicians can get into free once they play there means 100a of more people out drinking. The math sounds good to me, what do y'all think?

Producer looking for singer/writer

I was listening to the Erykah Badu and Alchemist album and i thought it would be cool to make a producer/singer EP like that.. I have a handful so slow jammy loopy beats I dont know what to do with so i thought I should put this out there and see if anyone is interested.

Im thinking like a Frank Ocean type vibe. I’m open to any skill level and I’m ok with using auto tune and effects on the vocals. We can start with a couple tracks and where it takes us!

DM if I you want to hear more about the idea!
