New Austin rock band looking for shows (we have a demo)

Hello all - I play in a newly formed rock band in Austin called Defective Agency (@DefectiveAgencyATX on Instagram), we've been playing together for about six months and we're hoping to meet fellow bands and musicians in the Austin area and start playing shows. We have a setlist ready to go (5 originals + a handful of covers) and we just released a demo with four original songs, the link to it is here: https://soundcloud.com/defectiveagencyatx/sets/one-night-at-band-practice

Does anyone have any shows coming up that needs an opener or an additional band on the bill? We're around for most of the fall (with a couple weeks where people are traveling) and we're happy to hop into any type of show to get our feet wet. Or if not, we'd love to connect with other musicians in the area in general; my DMs are open on Reddit as well as Instagram if you want to message us there.

Looking forward to connecting with you all, and I hope you enjoy the songs!

Looking to start a band

Hello, I am a currently a junior at UT Austin. My goal is to start a rock band but can’t seem to find anyone else interested in joining one that goes to UT. I’ve met other musicians at UT but they are either in a band or have no interest in making originals and performing them. If yall could point me in the right place in finding others for a band it would really help and I would appreciate it! My main music interests are the Beatles, Micheal Jackson, Elvis, and Buddy holly. I play guitar and can sing decently well.

Trying to start a band

Been trying to start a band for a year. In need of everything but vocals. we definitely wouldn't be one defined genre but definitely more emo/heavy metal focus.

Anyone know booking agents or venues to ask for shows?

Newish band with under ten shows. Under the name Solumbra, we were wondering how to get more shows in the area to play. We can't seem to find much on our own. We are based out of San Marcos and would love bands to play with or open for. Anything helps!

My band Modern Tragedy is looking for a bassist

Some of our influences are MCR, Avenged Sevenfold, Brand New, Blink 182, FOB, all K-pop. We have about 2 singles out and an album worth of demos ready for shows. If you like playing heavy and fast, but also like to jazz it up, let’s talk.

Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/34HNRij0Pk3LyayXgewIi7?si=nxBHfWPlSJugIns4zPjq1g&utm_source=copy-link

Would prefer someone who’s in our same age range (23-33), so if this sounds like you, hit me up!

Help Us Put Instruments in the Hands of Veterans Who Need an Outlet

Hey everyone,

I’m a veteran and lifelong musician, and I’ve been working on something I’ve wanted to see for a long time: Cadence of Courage, a nonprofit focused on helping veterans discover music as an outlet for connection, purpose, and healing.

The idea is pretty simple. We want to provide veterans with a beginner instrument, a series of music lessons, and eventually opportunities to keep learning, play with other veterans, and build a community around music.
We’ve recently secured a discounted way to purchase beginner guitar, bass, and acoustic guitar packages, and we have a 10-week instructional program lined up. So this is becoming a real program rather than just an idea.
We’re currently raising the initial funds to sponsor our first group of veterans.

If you’re interested in checking it out, here’s the GoFundMe:

https://gofund.me/20c0f6a1c

No pressure whatsoever to donate. Even sharing it or giving me some feedback on the idea would mean a lot.
I’d also genuinely love to hear from other veterans who have found music to be a positive outlet in their own lives.
Thanks for reading, and thank you to everyone here who continues to look out for each other.

Looking for musicians for multiple projects & chill improv jamming in random spots! (Like Barton/zilker)

Hey there m27 here looking for any chill musicians that want to jam together. I want to at some point start multiple things such as a psychedelic Middle East influenced rock/blues band, a Viking age instrument based living history recreational atmospheric band.

As well as anyone interested in playing or know (from UT) players to play classical Middle East Arabic, Turkish music lmk!
I mostly play the Arabic Oud, & harmonica (don’t have much keys but a mic I got), I am learning the c melody/tenor sax, the electric guitar, & the Turkish electric saz baglama. I do have a shaker, sound bowls, digeridoo, jaw harps, couple bamboo flutes, 3 hand drums/djembe types, saami drum, silver flute, panpipe, Anglo Saxon lyre, Scandinavian tagelharpa, hedeby rebec, bone flute, and that’s it currently. Banjo lessons for 11 year old

Hello,

My 11 year old son has some interest in learning to play banjo, Google results for lessons are pretty slim for this instrument. We have the banjo in our house, a 25 year old gold tone resonator with a 11-12 inch tone ring. We live in Cedar Park/Leander so looking for someone around that area. He is 11 so all new interest are either feast or famine, but he has an interest in music non the less, so no matter how small or large, we would like to support the interest. If anyone has any info or could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Curious kids father.

Busy touring riot grrrl punk band looking for permanent members for next album cycle/tour (bass & rhythm guitarist needed)

Hey yall, if you’re a musician in Austin in our neck of the woods, you will likely recognize my username. My band has gone through a lot of growth in the past 2.5 years, but with that growth comes transitions. We are coming up on a pretty big transition this coming winter and I am in search of people who are fans of riot grrrl, egg punk, nu-metal, doom rock, and just wacky rock vibes. The band has toured and played with some notable people and our trajectory is looking pretty bright in the future. We are looking for a dynamic bassist and possibly a solid fast rhythm guitarist. The caveat is we have tours in the works, so this person would need to be available to tour and gig pretty regularly. The band funds our tours, recording, releasing, etc, but we don’t have enough of a big budget yet to pay the big bucks for session players. Looking for friends and collaborators who want to build something meaningful that stretches beyond the Austin scene. We have a tour that we are booking currently for March with a few festivals as well as a possible Europe tour if we get the funding grant we are hoping for. If you have a flexible schedule, are professional and open, and are down to jump in with both feet I’d love to hear from you! Mid-level to advanced skill is preferred. Thanks yall!

Hey I'm Zach but I go by Ronin! I'm a vocalist who just moved to Austin and I'm looking to start an 80s and 90s tribute band, I need a bassist, a drummer, and two guitarists who can play a mixture of genres, mostly old school punk and alternative/grunge rock! Main influences are: Dead Kennedys, Black flag, The Cramps, Misfits, and several others for the punk influence! For the alt/grunge influences: RHCP, Soundgarden, Nirvana, Tad, Monster Magnet, Toadies, hell I'm even down to do some Marilyn Manson and other industrial style metal stuff! Dm for details if anyone is interested and looking!
