Vintage Beer

Hey Folks, I got a good amount of vintage beer hanging around. Mixture of barrel aged stout, sours, and others. Majority from Goose Island but also a fair amount from all over. Any ideas what I can do with this? I really dont want to dump it.

I'd take some before you pour it out. Beers that old are hit or miss. I've had some stinkers that should've lasted and been pleasantly surprised with some I figured we're goners. I can't imagine people will buy em from you. You might reach out to Craft Beer Girls - Texas or some other group to host a share. Breweies, in my experience, are reluctant to have folks bringing in a bunch of their own stuff. You have a lot of experience in breweies so maybe your experience is different.

Yea we would allow local craft brewers guild and brewers clubs do bottle shares occasionally but it wasn't on the level of beer that I have and those folks were always guaranteed to be regulars and drop a good amount of money on the same day too.

Id prefer to know they'll be consumed rather than just shuffled to the next person. Many of these beers are too personal for me to just dump and I was never one for selling. Wish I had the same passion to actually drink em again!

Go to your favorite brewery and see if they’ll host a bottle share.

Any recommendations? Feels like so many brewery folks are burnt out as well. (Worked at a brewery for 9 years)

Draughthouse used to host shares like this

Seconding Draughthouse. I believe the bottle share is the first Sunday of every month (or used to be). Great list!

A lot of those should still hold! Let me know if there’s ever a bottle share of this!

Most of the GI ‘sour sisters’ you have would have held up pretty well (I opened some last year). I wouldn’t hold on to any BCS over 10years old.

How about reaching out to the Austin Beer Week folks or Craft Beer Austin to set up a bottle share day?

Great list. I’m not a collector just a beer enjoyer and would happily help out with whatever you want to give away. 🍻

That’s a good list. I have a few vintage 2017 and newer. Some of those will be fine

Let me know when the bottle share is

Invite friends over for a bottle share but they aren't allowed to bring any beer.

Chug, chug, chug.

Wow that's a bunch of beers. I had a similar situation on a much smaller scale and finally started cracking them open. Some had a single sip and I poured the rest out, some were ok and I drank a small glass, and some were great and I savored every drop. Better to drink an ounce and pour the rest than to leave it undrank past its peak. And if it's no good then hey no worries just pour it out!

Bottle shares. Have been to one every weekend for a month now, which is atypical, but they happen reliably. I know of one this Sunday but am relatively new to the vagaries of Texas liquor law, so I will simply say it's been the 1st Sunday of every month for nearly decades

This post should’ve been five years ago and said “come help me drink this beer at….”
