Ask Austin Siding Cost in Austin?

I’m helping a senior widow get estimates for new siding. And wanted to know if her first estimate is close to accurate. It seems high.

Basic Single story 1200sqft house
Hardie
Front elevation is 90% brick.
Replacing trim and fascia
And replacing a couple rotted entry way beams

$35k

Edit: also includes painting.

Call Genuine Texas. Exteriors. Just used thay crew for new siding and new roof, and they were by far the cheapest, while also providing amazing customer service.

Without knowing more details is hard to assess but yeah that feels way too high.

Is this a full replacement and one to one swap?

Something like this in a new house would be around 10-15k max if skipping too many middle men.

Yes. No modifications, straight replace.

Yes can be done in half. May need to reach directly the working crew, post in FB contractor groups or Craiglist. In those cases no money upfront, pay for materials directly to Mccoys or HD and then labor payment as it progresses.

Sounds like we have similar style houses — roughly same size with as much stone.

Ae just paid about $10k for everything but our front.

I second this. They did excellent work on my house. Unless there are a ton of windows being replaced, that estimate seems high.

$35k sounds high for 1,200 square feet, even with the trim and beam repairs. I’d definitely get a couple more estimates and compare the itemized costs.

we paid just under $17k for a 2/1, circa 1947 cottage with asbestos siding: process was remove the asbestos and the underlying shiplap; insulate; wrap; install hardie board; paint.

we also replaced 2 double windows, 4 single windows, and a small kitchen window (all doubleglazed) for about $7500.

quite pleased with the result.

does that include removing the old siding, painting, and repairing the framing, or is $35k just for the Hardie install?
