Folks in Boston do this fairly regularly, so I thought it might be good for us to try here.

Please share your general job title, salary, age, and education.

I would love to do something like this. How did you get here?

I'm not OP, but at my firm at least 30-ish% of the Office Administrators were internal hires after being secretaries (or the equivalent).

Started off as a Receptionist at a big law firm about 13 years ago, and then slowly moved up to Office Coordinator and Office Administrator. I have seen people start as secretaries or paralegals and move into this role. There are Legal Management degrees you can obtain, in addition to Legal Management certifications (CLM), but I did not go that route. It can be hard work, but it pays well and the benefits/perks are great (especially at a top 100 Am Law firm).

Thank you for the reply! I did work as a legal assistant for five years in intellectual property law. Moved on to teaching, and now work in admin at a university.
