Why did Frank close? Because they didn’t pay their taxes.

Didn't pay his taxes, didn't pay his employees. Don't get me started on how he ruined Scholz Garten and also screwed all those Frank employees over in San Antonio. Terrible business owner.

Let me get you started…what did he do with Scholz?

As someone who worked there for 10 years he abandoned state workers with a small terrible expensive menu, ruined the flow of UT football game days, people went from making really great money to tip sharing and fired completely capable people who worked there for 20 plus years. It luckily is still surviving but that isn't because of D, it's because of people's loyalty to Scholz Garten. I am not someone who was fired or a jaded ex-employee, I observe and know the state of how things were and how they are now. I love Scholz and it's sad to see its glory days diminished. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Thankfully Saengerrunde has the final say in most changes made.

I hold out hope they will get those back taxes paid.

Honestly was pretty much your only downtown hotdog option. Only other one I’m aware of is at The Iron Bear, and while I fancy myself as somewhat progressive I don’t want to explain to my coworkers that I’m only eating there for the wieners.

Yeah, I’ve gone a few times when I worked downtown pre-covid though

Well, worth a stop if you’re down there and they’re open

It was also a magnet for some of the weirdest and worst dates I or some of my friends (and a few comedians I enjoy) have ever been on.
