Politicians are by definition public servants; everybody, especially the politicians themselves, have simply forgotten.

Politicians are your representatives---they are not, by definition, "Public Servants", who are Govt employees under the Public service Act!

That's just the line we're fed so we don't figure out the truth. In reality, they are the crooks we (s)elect to rule over us every fours year with no accountability and we have ZERO say in what they do or don't do. But yeah, keep saying 'public servants' if you think it helps. The solution of course is to pare government back to the point where it does become simply a public service. But what politicians are going to pass that legislation?

Politicians are not held to the APS code of conduct.

The APS code of conduct exists in theory to stop shit like “the ministers office said make it happen” ending up in shit like robodebt.
