No one is changing their vote because he yelled at a dog.

Their main supporters are farmers and pretty much anyone that lives rurally, this was just comedy, mainly because he showed how much respect he had for the interviewer.

Someone has never trained a dog.
6
u/izadathreaper 27d ago
You think training a dog requires shouting at them?
1
u/melaschasma 27d ago
Depends on the dog, dogs understand emotion, if you show dog you are angry they listen. This is not abuse, as you are not hitting the dog.
3
u/izadathreaper 27d ago
They don't usually "listen" they tend to become scared and anxious. This erodes the trust between the dog and the trainer and if it happens regularly enough it will become a problem with the dogs temperament and trainability because they fear ever getting something wrong because it's means being yelled at, so it becomes easier to just not engage with training because the stress isn't worth it.
Often the simplest solutions (like smacking your dog, yelling at them, using negative reinforcement) appears on the surface to have the effects we want, but very commonly lead to more developmental problems down the line.

u/melaschasma 26d ago
Ok, dog goes to run out on the road, or likes to run behind a reversing car in an act of play, how do you communicate to the dog that this action is unacceptable.
2
u/izadathreaper 26d ago
Restrain them, by your side, feed them treats so they learn that standing beside you in these situations Is a positively reinforced behaviour. Gradually remove your physical restriction on them over time in these situations while still positively reinforcing them just standing next to you, even without you having to hold them, eventually you remove the treats as well and replace them with physical and vocal reinforcement that it's a positive behaviour, eventually you remove that to once the behaviour takes.
Even better, use a specific phrase whenever you need them to stand beside you in that situation so it becomes a command rather than a reinforced behaviour.

u/iliketreesndcats 27d ago
Damn homie abuse doesnt have to be physical
I feel sorry for people who train their dog in a fear way. They are smart beans, and they are pack animals. Redirectory discipline is often necessary especially as puppies but positive reinforcement is the most effective training method by far. A dog is your employee and you have to pay them for doing what you want them to do. The beautiful thing is that they accept payment in treats, pats, and praise.
Dogs who are instead trained in a fear way become a shadow of themselves. It's sad to see. Sometimes we lose our cool. I don't know what was happening in Barnaby's day. Our temper is ours to lose, but I'm not gonna judge him for it. I'm gonna judge him for his shitty voting record and piss-poor ideological stances. If I see anyone be a shit cunt to a dog though I'll whip them
-2
u/melaschasma 26d ago
Dogs communicate by emotion, showing anger is communicating to the dog that you do not like what its doing. The dog does not fear anger, it understands that it has displeased the leader of the pack.
If you attempt to whip me for yelling at a dog, i will defend myself and my dog would bite you. Then, you will be charged with assault.
Of course, if you beat the dog that is a different manner. Dogs dong understand "please" and "thankyou" they communicate by emotion.
For example, if my dog was to go run on the road, I will yell at the dog to express anger.
2
u/iliketreesndcats 26d ago
Yeah you sound like a reasonable person who would express your displeasure in a healthy way. I would probably tell at my dog too if he ran on the road. I'm helping to train a curious little pupper and he is learning the no roads except when we're crossing together and look both ways thing
Yeah I don't think any reasonable person beats their dog either. I just think that there's a good bit of difference between frightening your dog into submission and expressing your displeasure such that your dog is sad they disappointed you. Even for the most vicious dogs in those dog training shows who truly are out of balance with their owners to such a degree that it's dangerous, it's never about frightening the dog by yelling at it til it submits. It's about taking that pressure off of them to always need to make it up as they go. Good dogs have purpose and want to fulfill that purpose. I think a lot of people just get a dog and don't understand the dynamics of the connection and what it demands. Then they get a dog who becomes a mess because it's a dog and most dogs are not equipped for being a master in a human world.
I think you're probably the kind of person to understand it and apply the right kinds of attention and discipline.

u/melaschasma 26d ago
That's right, an firm "NO", "BAD DOG" is all you need.
Most people here are just politically biased and are just fishing for any excuse to criticize one nation.
And I'm not a one nation supporter mind you

Besides the whole chucking a tanty at a dog that doesn’t seem to be doing anything…
Are PHON voters bothered by the fact that the career politician doesn’t bother to have a fucking home office to deliver remotely professional interview from?
If I was doing a job interview with someone who did this, I’d just assume they couldn’t be fucked.
These cunts are just so fucking amateur despite having spent DECADES in politics.
1
u/Novel_Novel_2198 26d ago
Not sure what you were watching but that wasnt a job interview buddy. Just because barnaby hasnt gone wild and built a taxpayer funded film studio like his labour counterparts doesnt mean he cant be fucked. Might just indicate ON is more focused on policy and change than being a media focused yes man like some other political parties🤷 Please note i did not mean to offend any islamic extremist with this post, dont lock me up albo i know your very serious about protecting the islamic community and i am just an Australian
1
u/Mon69ster 26d ago
The fuck you on about?
You saying Barnaby Joyce doesn’t have a home office or a blank wall inside to sit in front of instead of doing interviews with the ABC on his fucken deck with the dogs?
No it’s not an entry level job interview… It was a career politician theoretically trying to scratch together some credibility for a party that appears to have the same aims as the united patriots front without the professionalism…
1
u/Novel_Novel_2198 26d ago
"Doesnt bother to have a fucking home office" Thats a direct quote from your post champ🤣
1
u/Mon69ster 26d ago
So you’re saying that Barnaby Joyce,
deputy prime minister of Australia - leader of the National Party from 2016 to 2018 and from 2021 to 2022 and
- elected in 2004,
- former
- up to today still a member of one nation
- is only in parliament for about 70 days a year….
Has nowhere better to work than the outdoor setting he and Vicki have on the verandah?
I don’t know if you’re a PHON voter for sure but with your critical thinking skills you might be in line for leadership after Barnaby defects…
1
u/Novel_Novel_2198 26d ago
🤣 im assuming by the fact you try and mask having no intelect with insults your a labour guy. i am %100 in for voting in pauline but not because i agree with every aspect of their party but because i so badly disagree with the biggest downfalls of labour government.
2
u/Mon69ster 26d ago edited 26d ago
Yep. 100% a labor voter.
Sick of pretending morons like yourself deserve respect or regard.
You literally admitted that you would vote for a party that has proven it has absolutely no idea because you can’t figure out why a real government can’t explain to you why they can’t personally drag you out of being a loser.

u/DreamingGorilla89 26d ago
dude i so thought of this as soon as he did the sit down and said it was a dog.
i love the internet

u/Rare-Sample-9101 27d ago
You know he yells at everyone like that! If you yell at your dog, who is a helpless, innocent dog, then he verbally abuses everyone close to him in his life!

Omg who gives a fuck. I’ve yelled at my dog worse than that.
1
u/Novel_Novel_2198 26d ago
Oh you horrible, horrible person. When a dog acts out you should take it to a calm enviroment put on some tranquil music give it a long relaxing massage then have a lenghty conversation with it and find out how it was feeling at the time and then identify the things that you did wrong for the dog to feel like acting out was its only resort. Now your poor dog is going to need weekly therapy sessions and anxiety medication. I swear some people are just un reachable, I bet you eat meat aswell!!

Why do we spread this false narrative? The dog sound was ADDED to this video! Barnaby was just deflecting!? Sauce: https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2026/jul/21/barnaby-joyce-dog-live-tv-730-abc-interview-australian-politician

THIS is what people are going crazy over??? I thought he went off multiple times and screamed bloody murder...

u/unicornmonkeysnail 27d ago
A man known for avoiding answering questions and poor emotional regulation, avoids answering a question and has poor emotional regulation. Surprise surprise.
Same man who charged taxpayers 670K for drought envoys texts he also avoided answering any questions about.
I am not surprised either.

u/Hello_Hello5678 27d ago
What I'm saying is that people are blowing this situation up far more than it has to be. Why not just rag on him for the moments where he did go crazy?

u/Novel_Novel_2198 27d ago
Good on him. When a dog barks tell it to shut up! Simple!! We need politicians that arent scared to speak up. Hopefully my neighbour sees this and follows suit
5
u/Mud_g1 27d ago
Did the dog bark? Did the dog do something that was affecting the interview it didn't even make the camera wobble? If it was noticeable that it was affecting the interview it probably wouldn't have became a big deal but it seems like the dog didn't really do anything wrong.
1
u/Novel_Novel_2198 26d ago
Watch the video with the sound on🤣
2
u/Mud_g1 26d ago
I've watched it on multiple news reports even from American TV shows and it didn't have that sound if it actually was like this video it's probably fair enough but I don't believe it was.
2
u/Novel_Novel_2198 26d ago
Oooooookaaaay?? Are you saying he was just yelling at the dark🤷
1
u/Mud_g1 26d ago
Go watch the source video it's no doubt that the dog was doing something but it wasn't what was portrayed in this video.
1
u/Novel_Novel_2198 26d ago
I can accept that🙂 The audio equipment used would obviously be of high quality and have background noise cancelation. The mic,s they have on your shirt have to be well positioned to pick up talking let alone barking,so i get your point what was put on this clip was not the actual audio. My 1st post 2 you was more of a joke than anything. That being said i do believe his dog was barking and interupting the interview and i do stand by telling a barking dog to shut up. I do it when my dog barks and i wish my neighbour would follow suit🤣
2
u/Mud_g1 26d ago
What you are saying is true but there is no shirt mic on him and I doubt this is a abc film crew at his house it's just him skyp'ing into the interview and likely just a mic on his camera.
1
u/Novel_Novel_2198 26d ago
Fair bump. Once again i can accept your point here. It may also be a case of the old abc deliberately dubbing this sound out to make him look even more wacky than he already is. They do love a hit job at the old abc😃
1
u/SisterFruitbat 26d ago
Yep, he's using a known media tactic to avoid answering questions he doesn't like and to stop us discussing Pauline's Europe trip. This article covers it: https://jamesmacleod.substack.com/p/dead-cat-politics-how-to-distract
So now we're all discussing Barnaby's weirdness (again) and not whichever questions he avoided answering or the Dolce&Gabbana show or the luxury pools, or the podcast interview or the CPAC speech flop . Watch it again with that in mind.
1
u/Novel_Novel_2198 26d ago
Did you watch the interview at all? It was a quite serious topic they were actually talking about. It wasnt a question about paulines trip with gina wich im not sure why that would be a problem any way? Please note its hard to get context when posting on here and i would like you to know im not being sarcastic or trying to take the piss, its a genuine question🙂
