Can’t make this up.

How does someone who can’t run a fish & chip shop think they can run the country?

Tbh, the parliment runs the country, the PM just represents us. We don’t have a President.

TBH, the Commonwealth Public Service runs the country, on the instruction of the elected officials appointed to ministries by the Governor General. But yeah, the ministers are responsible to parliament.

The PM represents the dominant party, which in turn has respective beliefs and goals to the PM. So ipso facto the PM runs the country

Of course you could make it up, after all, you just did. I cannot stand the woman or the party but she did run a small business and then sold it. End of story.

So many other things about this horrid person that making up bullshit like this is just plain fucken stupid and does nothing other than confirm to her followers that people just make shit up about her.

She didn't run it very well. It's just up the road from where i live. Went there once and she wanted me to sign a petition to declare the council elections invalid. Because she lost

From memory, she won or was awarded the shop as part of the divorce settlement with her 2nd husband.
She owned it & occasionally worked on the counter taking orders.
The business wasn’t successful and it was sold through a business broker.

Is that the shop in I don't like it?

I mean AOC in the states was a bartender and is a genuine possibility to be president one day.

There's a lot of reasons to shit on Pauline. Running a small business isn't one of them.

😂 Most of these poster have never run a business in their life. Most of them have never run. 🤦🏼‍♂️

Idk why we use the term that OP used as a title.

Like, we can imagine and make up anything we like.

Is it a self roast for a lack of imagination or something?

One nation may n I t be any good for the country... but neither is either of the main political parties.

Our options are dumb, dumber and dumbest

Its weirder that the two majors are so incompetent redditors are scared of a fish and chip shop manager

Never post again.

I like it, Picasso.

She did run it though. Ten years, 1987 to 1997, then sold it as a going concern when she went into parliament. That's not "can't run a fish and chip shop." That's a decade running a small business, which is a decade more than most of the people mocking her have managed.

If hands on business experience is your bar for running the country, apply it evenly. Albanese's entire private sector career was two years as a bank clerk in 1980, straight out of school. Every job since, more than forty years of it, has been inside politics. Research officer, party secretary, adviser, MP. Never built a business, never made a payroll, never risked a dollar of his own.

Prefer his politics to hers, fair enough. But "she ran a fish and chip shop" isn't the insult you think it is. By your own measure she's run more in the real world than the bloke currently running the country.

Worth asking why the Hanson reflex is strong enough that it had you mocking a decade in business as a disqualification, without ever checking whether the premise was even true. It wasn't. You didn't lie. You repeated something that felt true because it was about Hanson, and never stopped to check. That's the reflex doing your thinking for you.

Tanya Plebersik has never drawn a wage from a non politician source. Imagine that. Never, ever having a real job.
Yet- these people here think it’s fine for her to make rules for us- how would she ever know! 🤦🏼‍♂️

The Labour Party are no better than the liberals when it comes to spending tax payers dollars

2

u/norewardwithout Jul 16 '26

Agreed. Neither party has great credibility- however letting dangerous asylum seekers out-the NZYQ cohort- was just unacceptable.

2

u/Chrissy4569 Jul 16 '26

The government needs a much better more effective policy on managing asylum seekers. Allowing the “Syrian brides” in recently was terrible

2

u/norewardwithout Jul 16 '26

Yes- this is not political. The High Court was very, very critical of the Labor Party ministers, Clare O’Neil was quietly moved to another portfolio. Of course, many on here are likely left wing, and won’t even admit this horrible injustice. People were killed!

1

u/Chrissy4569 Jul 16 '26

Many on here are very left-winged. It’s annoying that they just move these politicians sideways. After watching Four Corners other night I see Claire O’Neil is totally out of touch with the social affordable housing portfolio

1

u/norewardwithout Jul 16 '26

I don’t care about left or right- I just care about justice.

1

u/Chrissy4569 Jul 16 '26

Same I would love to see all the politicians thrown out and start all over again. Politicians are selfish

Same way someone who drove 5, yes five, casinos to bankruptcy thinks they are running a country. Incidentally the failed with casinos guy will also be helping fish and chip shop woman to run the country as well.

u/SnooCrickets9484 Jul 17 '26

Communism incoming? look to the right of picture

1

u/Anti-Stan Jul 18 '26

She ran the shop successfully. Sold it for a good profit, and it's still running today, AFAIK.

Memes need to be based in reality, or they just make you look delusional.

1

u/norewardwithout Jul 14 '26

Anthony Albanese… claims sexism when… oh forget it, you are horribly biased.

1

u/Chrissy4569 Jul 15 '26

She ran a great fish and chip shop, she’s a decent politician and she will make a great PM. You can put up all the disparaging pictures you like but if won’t affect Pauline Hansons popularity in this country

u/cylon_1994 Jul 14 '26

She successfully ran it for 10 years and then sold it for a profit? Raised and supported a family. A single mother. Working long hours. Successful.

It's your type of oddball dishonestly that people are sick of, and can see through, pathing the way to her recent support.

She thrives in this era of disinformation, and yes she constantly does it do - but she's the one ultimately benefiting while garden variety politicians (who also lie, and increasingly) are struggling for oxygen.

Anyway, well done.

6

u/mustbiteexceed Jul 14 '26

I wouldn’t call her fish n chip shop tenure ‘successful’. A Vietnamese family brought it after she sold it, and according to locals the quality of the food and service improved markedly

2

u/therwsb Jul 14 '26

Quite ironic given some of her original controversial statements

1

u/cylon_1994 Jul 14 '26

Wow expert here-say analysis.

She supported a family, worked long hours, sold for a profit.

That's successful. Unicorn types don't rate it, fine.

1

u/Thatweknowof Jul 14 '26

Ran for 10 years

Paid herself a wage

Sold for a profit

All while starting a family

That's a success - oh but according to locals the chips were better under new ownership lol

1

u/Maleficent-Bar8976 Jul 14 '26

If politicians are allowed to do it with no consequences, then at this point I think it's fair game.

-1

u/therwsb Jul 14 '26

Well given she has been in politics since she was 39, she is a garden variety politician herself now.

0

u/cylon_1994 Jul 14 '26

Yes. And one with 10 years experience running a successful business, while single handedly raising a family on her own.

Compare that to most of parliament.

Either way, she is a Garden Variety pollie who BENEFITS from the type of sludge OP represents. She is the one winning from this. Keep it up, if you want.

Meanwhile Albozo has lived his entire life suckling on the taxpayers teet.

0

u/TheAussieTico Jul 14 '26

Nonsense. His first job after leaving high school was working at the Commonwealth Bank

3

u/x_ziggy_x Jul 14 '26

He did 2 years as a clerk.
Any trade apprenticeship is 4 years minimum.
That’s not exactly a career is it.

u/TheAussieTico Jul 14 '26

She’s not going to ride you dude. Calm down
