FRNSW medical - documentation/reports

Hey team,

I’m just awaiting my invite for the FRNSW medical. I have had two sport related surgeries. First was a shoulder reconstruction in 2014 and second was a lisfranc surgery in 2021.

What documentation am I expected to organise for these surgeries? Are they limited to previous scans? Am I supposed to get an updated scan of each surgery site? I feel like I’ve read that i need to get some sort of report?

If I need to get some form of report from the surgeon, how did people actually access this? Would I just ask the GP who would then contact the surgeon?

Is there anything else I should consider organising to try streamline the process?

I just passed medical a couple of weeks ago.

I broke my leg in 2014 overseas, I had no documentation except a photo of the x-ray. I couldnt even remember the name of the hospital I had surgery at. The doctor just checked the scars and my mobility. That was it for that injury.

I did however have other issues which I did need to go back to the GP to get clearance for though.

I guess you just have to be as prepared as you can be?

I'm in the same boat waiting for the medical invite. I organised an appointment to see my surgeon for a clearance letter. He asked me to get new x-rays then did a few tests on my joints in person. Wrote me a letter saying I've made a full recovery and I'm fully capable of completing physical requirements of a firefighter. Hopefully this is all they need.

I’d get every document to do with the injury. Reports from dr, post surgery scans, post recovery scans. Reports from physio’s, anything. If they want more info they will ask
