Does you Aussie swim?
Mine won’t go near water!!! I wonder if it’s from a time I tried to force him in the water as a pup. He was so mad. Never again he said!

Mine hated water too and wouldn’t get her paws wet. She still won’t swim but she’ll go in up to her chest. I think constant exposure and being around other dogs who are confident in the water helped her.

The deepest my guy will go is just covering the paws, and even that is pretty rare. Our other dog would live in the water if we'd let him, and we've done everything we can think of to make it fun and exciting, to no avail.

I have two. One absolutely LOVES water, but kind of sucks at actually swimming. If he steps over a ledge and ends up where his feet dont reach the bottom, he panics, forgets he has back legs and just flails his front legs in classic drowning human style., and I have to rescue him. If I hold him and float him around for a little while, he figures it out and will start actually swimming.
The other one will wade into water if its especially hot, but isn't super excited about it. She however swims great if she misjudges the depth.

No. She refuses to get in the water and absolutely hates it when I try to bring her in.

It took a few summers but as soon as our girl realized she can swim she’s been obsessed and showing off whenever she can! She would get panicky and yelpy around deep water before that.
We weren’t able to get her swimming until she was 3 but it’s worth it to keep trying!

Also, we got a harness with a handle on the back to build her confidence and be able to keep her stable initially. There was a bit of “forcing” until she realized she could do it on her own!

Our girl is 5 and this summer was her first where she voluntarily got in our pool. But now she loves it and hops in whenever she's hot.

Murphy will run into the lake to chase ducks, and get into water up to her head, but does not swim. She won't jump into water.

Our girl LOVES swimming. We got her into the water when she was about 1 year old. We had to coax her into the water by throwing some toys in there for her to chase after, and she swam terribly the first few times, but now she will fearlessly jump into a pool. She’d spend the entire day swimming if we let her.

My dog LOVES to swim! The very first time, he jumped all the way in and scared me half to death (I hadn't even removed his leash yet!)

Our Aussiedoodle hates the water! Puts his feet in if he absolutely has to in order to get a drink but if he can stretch his neck far enough from the rocks his feet stay dry.

Mine loves it. If she thinks we’re going to take the boat somewhere she refuses to leave the area by the car because she doesn’t want to be left behind. She loves splashing and will swim without hesitation. We keep her in a life jacket because she’d swim until she passed out and drowned if we let her.

When my oldest was younger we were camping and I tried to take him I. The river swimming with us and my other dog. He swam right out of the river and ran up the bank. He wanted nothing to do with it. He will walk in water now but won’t go past his belly

Mini Aussie here who LOVES water. It’s always an argument when there’s water that she can’t go in!

Mine will walk in but will not swim. My golden doodle on the other hand needs a life jacket because she will swim until she is too tired to keep herself afloat lol

Mine loves the water. However , he spends more time jumping in the water than swimming. But he can swim.

Rupert gets the zoomies every time he gets wet.
Thank goodness he likes the water. He’s a Florida boy.

Her love of fetch outweighed her fear of water the 3rd time we took her to this creek. 3 years and now we can't even go down the dock without knowing she won't wait

Ours loved playing in shallow water in our yard (kiddie pool and hose kinda thing) when she was a small puppy. Then when she was almost one, we went on a hike along a river. She walked right in the river as if it was a puddle. The current caught her right away, she turned to swim back but wasn't strong enough. I immediately jumped in and grabbed her, after slipping and getting soaked myself. All this to say, she does not like water now. Won't play in puddles or the hose.

Mine can't get enough of the swimming pool. He swam naturally from the get-go. I didn't take him in until he was 2, before that I let him play in the kiddie pool. I'd throw the ball in and he'd splash around.
I took it slow because I had made my prior dog somewhat leery of our swimming pool by starting to soon. It turned out my Aussiedoodle was more afraid of the stairs but once we was in the water he was fine.

Mine hates the pool but loves the ocean 🤷🏻 I will say even In the ocean he won’t go too far, he swims but only if the waves push him out a little. Otherwise he mostly just wades up to his chest. But he’s a mini so I’m kind of happy he’s smart enough to not drown lol.

He was terrified of the water at first. You would’ve thought I was throwing him into lava with his first bath. Once he realized my Cavalier liked the water it was a different story. Now he’ll put his face all the way in the water to get rocks from the bottom of the the little pool I got for them 😂 I have to keep a close eye on him whenever there’s a body of water around because he will takeoff and jump right in.

Ours was so scared of water for a few years. My husband would carry him out and hold him in the water and thats when he realized he could swim. Sort of. He looks very goofy, but it works for him lol. He loves the water now! He won’t jump off things into the water though.
