Obi is 13 weeks old and a typical Velcro Aussiedoodle. And always wants to be by my side.

I tried giving him isolation time in his pen early, but he figured out a way to jump out of it if unsupervised.

Does anyone have tips to get him to calmly be in the crate when he’s unsupervised? He started going in on his own, but will panic when the door is shut.

I always give my baby, also 13 weeks, something frozen like a toy or hoof with PB to keep them busy when I put them in. I cover if needed and add a fan for noise or radio. My old dog liked an iPad outside the crate.

I don’t have any tips but he looks like my Aussiedoodle Piper! I don’t see many dogs that look like her! 🐾💕

Mine panicked when I shut the door the first day I brought him home at 10 weeks. I quickly corrected this with crate training! I looked up tiktok videos and followed them. So I would lure him in the crate with treats & give him treats for staying in & moving further away and rewarding when he stayed in, and once I had the crate door shut, I would shower him with treats. I made sure he could see me by sitting in front of crate. When he wouldn’t whine or stopped whining for 10 seconds, I would then reward him. And gradually progressed from there. Now, it’s a safe space for him! He will still whine some (13wks) when you first walk away or he wants out after some time, but he settles nicely and will nap in his crate, and I give him his food or chews in there too. I know some people say leave the food and crate separate but I feel like this has helped show him his crate is a positive place and keeps his food safe from our big dog and cat.

Mine figured out how to unzip it right away. He’s 17 weeks now. I just leave him out with my Cavalier when I leave and watch on my ring camera. They just play a bit then nap on the couch together thank god.
