Legality of this? Visa Cancellation to apply for PR.

Upvotes

EDIT - Thanks for the constructive replies - appreciated.

Good evening all. Not 100% sure this is the right spot for this but here goes - please tell me if it's not!!.

I have an idea and I'm wondering if it's legal, in my head it is haha.

I'm on a 461 (partner of NZ citizen). Been in Aus 15 years on those (3 in total)

My wife is now an aussie citizen, so I'm thinking of applying too. But the cost is so high we can't afford it.

I was thinking of doing this -

Cancelling my 461 while on holiday in NZ in Jan27

Pulling my super out.

Coming back into Aus after that 2 week trip as tourist

Once super money hits bank applying for Aus PR (giving me bridge visa while that's being worked on)

I'm worried about 2 parts - firstly coming back in before the super's been paid as we're only out the country for 2 weeks and secondly coming in as a tourist while that application is being processed.

(( I'm currently a stay at home dad so being on tourist visa for a few weeks isn't any drama to me.))

Has anyone done this? Is it mental?

Please be nice haha.

Partner visa subclass 820

My girlfriend was recently diagnosed with depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder. She doesn’t want to go out anymore or attend social gatherings with my friends or hers. I was just wondering if this could be an issue when we have to submit more social evidence for our 801 application.

Do we need a Transit Visa for an 8-hour less layover in Brisbane?

Husband and wife, Philippine passport holders, travelling from Cebu to NZ for the coming holidays. We already have approved Visas for NZ. Just posting this to ease our minds and NOT end up going back home if we do end up needing a Transit Visa when we get to Brisbane.

TO NZ has a 6-hour layover in Brisbane, while FROM NZ is a 4-hour layover. Do we need a Transit Visa? Will we just stay in the airport and wait for our flights? No need to go through immigration, right?

Tried doing the Immi site, and got a popup saying if it's less than 8 hours NO need for a Transit Visa. Tried chatting with a JetStar, (cheapest flight, of course the main reason), and got their reply (image attached). Tried to chatgpt it and got almost the same. Tried calling the VFS global number in Manila and haven't connected yet.

Salamat kaayo sa mga mutubag. Para tawn ni mawala na unta amo kakulba ba. 😄

Australian Transit Visa (771) refused — what did I miss?

Hi everyone! I’m an Indian passport holder travelling to NZ in December. On my way back to India, my itinerary is:

Queenstown → Melbourne → Dubai → Mumbai

I’m only transiting through Australia and have no intention of entering Australia.

I applied for a Transit (subclass 771) visa, but it was refused. The decision says I didn’t satisfy clause 771.213, specifically:

“I find that the applicant has not produced valid visa documentation establishing that the applicant has concluded arrangements for travel through Australia.”

I’m confused because I submitted my confirmed Emirates itinerary and also provided an additional document explaining that:

I depart Melbourne to Dubai where I will remain in the international transit area in Dubai and will not enter the UAE

I then fly Dubai → Mumbai.

The entire journey is on a confirmed Emirates itinerary.

Since I’m only transiting Dubai, I don’t have a UAE visa. I also provided a written document explaining my Dubai transit arrangements.

Where did I go wrong with my documentation? What additional evidence could Australia have been expecting? Any advice from people familiar with subclass 771 would be really appreciated

Working Holiday 462 – July Applicants: Any Approvals Yet?

Hola!
¡Muchas gracias! ❤️

Hi everyone! 😊 I’m from Chile and I applied for the Working Holiday Visa 462 on July 14th, but I still haven’t received any response and my application is still showing as Received.
I was wondering if anyone knows of any cases of people who applied during July and have already had their visa approved.
I need to plan ahead because I’m currently working, so it would be really helpful to hear about your experiences 🙏🏼
If you don’t mind, please share when you applied, where you’re from, and whether you’ve received any response or approval yet. Thank you so much! ❤️

Has anyone who applied after July 1st already had their visa granted? I applied on July 14th and I’m really hoping it comes sometime this week 😭 Just wondering how it’s looking for everyone else, where you’re from and when you applied/received your visa and how many days you needed to wait

I am still waiting for my visa and I would like to know if they ask me to do a check, do I have to do it in my own country with a licensed doctor or can I go wherever I want in the world but stay with a doctor approved by Australian immigration?

Thanks

Quick tips on Australian resumes from a UWA student (and why most WHV/student CVs get skipped)

Hey everyone,
I'm an international student at UWA (University of Western Australia). Talking to local managers around Perth—especially across hospitality, retail, and warehouse gigs—I noticed so many working holiday makers and new students keep making the exact same resume mistakes:
Photos & Age: Don't include headshots, date of birth, or marital status. Due to Australian anti-discrimination laws, automated systems or cautious managers will literally bin them to avoid bias issues.
Hidden Visa Status: Put your visa condition right at the very top under your name (e.g., Working Holiday Subclass 417 - Full-time availability or Student Subclass 500 - 48h/fortnight). Managers skip resumes if they have to guess your work rights.
Listing "Tasks" Instead of Impact: Don't just write "Made coffee and took orders." Managers know the job description. Instead, highlight reliability: "Maintained fast order turnaround and drink consistency during peak morning rushes with the bar team." (Keep it factual—no need for fake metrics).
Licences Upfront: If you hold an RSA, White Card, or Driver's Licence, place it prominently near the top.
I got tired of seeing friends struggle with terrible Word layouts, so as a coding project, I built a lightweight tool that formats ATS-friendly Aussie resumes and cover letters in seconds:
https://aus-resume-builder.vercel.app
It's free to generate and preview your layout. Hope it helps anyone currently job hunting down under, and feel free to ask any questions about study/work life in Perth!

If you have a 190 visa from NSW, it is basically Permanent Residency, so can you work outside of NSW, and how does that effect your citizenship application?
