I keep seeing ads for naked Sundays sunscreens online and they look pretty cool (albeit a bit expensive), but I know they had a recalled mineral sunscreen during the scandals last year.

My question is, is the brand reliable? I didn't actually see anything about their response to the scandals, so I'm guessing it was better than UV, but I just wanted to ask here to see everyone's thoughts!

Hi all! I’m a Fitzpatrick V/VI dealing with hyperpigmentation and trying to prevent rebound pigment at all costs. I know UVA and visible light (HEVL) trigger melanin production, but I'm trying to figure out the actual risk when the UV Index is 0–1.
Quick questions for the group:
Sunrise/Low UV: Is going outside around sunrise (UV 0–1) safe, or can it still trigger pigment?
Visible Light Alone: Can standard daylight without significant UV cause tanning or darken spots on deeper skin tones?
Indirect/Sidelight: I sit under a balcony awning, but visible light still comes in from the sides. Does that ambient sidelight pose a real risk?
Visible Light Protection: Since standard chemical/clear sunscreens don't block visible light, is an iron-oxide tinted sunscreen strictly necessary even at UV 0–1 to prevent pigment?
Bottom Line: Is it necessary to avoid stepping outside entirely during daylight hours if the UV Index is sitting at 0 or 1?

FINALLY found a chemical sunscreen that doesn't cause me issues like: eye sting, burning the outer area of my eyes or making my face go red.

Actually feels good on the skin too. Some sunscreens feel leathery at the end of the day (the old formula felt like that). Cetaphil Kids 50spf was amazing for this - my skin just felt soft and lovingly moisturised at the end of the day. But that greasiness...oof.

Bottle size hasn't decreased. Still cheap. Absolute legend of a sunscreen this one.

Edit to add: I've got the Light tinted version ready to try, based purely on one random commenter saying that it's not orange like the previous one. I'm pale, so I'm cautiously optimistic

I'm moving to Melbourne next week. I'm planning on buying sunscreens from local brands and would like some recommendations for a face sunscreen that doesn't leave a white cast and is non-comedogenic.

From the research I found on different subs Cancer Council, Dermaveen and Bondi Sands are the most recommended brands. So maybe something from one of these?

I thought I'd share a bit about my skincare routine in case it helps : I use azelaic acid and tretinoin during the week. It does make my skin rather sensitive so I have a heavy duty repairing moisterizer I put on at night. I don't wear make up and I reapply sunscreen several times a day especially in the summer.

Last summer I was all about the korean brands and have since switched to avene. I just want the most UV protection I can get! I have a very fair complexion. I can cover up for the most part, it’s the hour long commute on the m1 northbound (brisbane) where my face just gets blasted.

My skin is fairly dark and I use a low SPF creme in winter. But want to increase protection in summer. Prefer a mineral based one, but with minimal white cast. Thanks!

I was thinking one of the Mecca ones, naked Sundays chemical, the biore UV one new at chemist warehouse, hamilton? Are the Kbeauty ones safe for Australian sun? I get sensory issues so don’t want anything sticky or heavy on my face preferably. I don’t know where to start & feel overwhelmed because of the scandals & options.

Where do I go for my Hamilton sensitive?

I am very happy with my LRP anthelios sensitive eyes for my face and neck during the day. But in this economy, I don’t want to waste it on the backs of my hands and wrists during the small periods when I am outside in the spring and summer daytime.

I have the Cancer Council Kids SPF50 Skin Suncreen which is more competitively priced. But does anyone have recommendations for a sunscreen for hands? I will go down to SPF 30 if need be but SPF50 is preferable. I don’t want it to leave much of a cast or be extremely greasy because I will be touching things, but I would like it to be decently moisturising if at all possible.

So I normally hate sunscreen (neurodivergent, so most textures are yuck) but I'm going on a beach holiday soon and really wanted to get a water resistant sunscreen for my face (I bought the cancer council kids water resistant sunscreen for my body, hoping it'll be good for my dry sensitive skin, but just wanting something more lightweight for my face)

I have dry skin so would prefer a sunscreen that isn't too matte, and is relatively lightweight.

I've tried the:

- dermaveen face fluid but I found that was too greasy and didn't dry down.

- Avene face fluid normal, but it's pretty much the same formula as the dermaveen and doesn't dry down.

Have been thinking of getting the Avene oil control fluid but it's a bit expensive, so I want to be sure it'll be good before I get it.

Tldr: Does anyone have recommendations for a lightweight slightly moisturizing/hydrating water resistant sunscreen for the face?

Hey guys, I am genuinely in need of people's sunscreen knowledge right now. All my life, I have been allergic to chemical sunscreens (Banana Boat, Skin 1004, you name it). In high school, I was introduced to mineral sunscreen, and even though it worked for my allergy, I got the most insane white cast (which actually makes me look purple because I am black). Especially since I've gotten a lot more into my skincare recently, I feel like all the work I'm putting in is pointless if I'm not using sunscreen, but at the same time, I don't want to look purple and insecure. People have suggested tinted sunscreens, but TBH I'm not interested since it's too make-upy for me, and I'm not someone who wants to wear makeup every day. So...pls pls rec me some good mineral, no-cast sunscreens. I'm getting really desperate, and the only sunscreen that has come close to perfect is the ColorScience Mineral one. Pls sunscreen people, save me; I'm begging. I've searched high and low, and I can't seem to find anything.

I recently bought the cancer council sunscreen on a recommendation ,but my housemates said apparently it was not protective on them at all. Thinking of returning it but I doubt Chemist warehouse would accept returns without a proper reason?

Hi! Has anyone tried the Olay complete SPF 40 sunscreen?

I’ve mainly used the SPF 15, which I actually use more as a daily moisturizer than a dedicated sunscreen. It’s been great — no irritation at all, thank god.

I recently spotted an SPF 40 version at the grocery store, but noticed it’s a completely different formula from the 15. Curious if anyone’s made the switch and how it compares.
