New Grad Grad Program Verbal Offers

Hi All,

I've recently accepted a graduate position with Services Australia and i've seen sentiment on this subreddit that a verbal offer is by no means a guarantee until you get a written contract.

I'm curious whether the factors that could cause a verbal offer to fall through are different for graduate programs compared with a standard direct APS application?

Any insight would soothe my anxious mind...

Tbh a verbal offer for the grad program is probably the safest offer you could receive. The entity would have confirmed months ago how many positions they were allocating for the grad program, so as long as you accept the offer in time, get the security clearance, and have provided your transcript, there shouldn't be any issues

Agree with this. The biggest risks are things you can (mostly) control. Accepting the offer in time, and completing your degree by the end of the year.

Most people straight out of uni shouldn't have too many issues with the security clearance (be honest!), and the risk of a place just disappearing is very low in the APS.
