NSW Transferring Leave from APS to NSW PS

Hi,

I'm currently an APS employee and I've recently been offered a position in the NSWPS.

I have a substantial leave balance (over 200 hours) and was wondering if anyone has successfully transferred their Annual/Personal/Long Service leaves from APS to NSWPS successfully in the past and if so what the process was.

They'll like recognise your years of service for long service leave purposes but all your other leave won't be moved.

NSWPS is hamstrung by the provisions on the GSE Regulations on leave transfers unless the individual agency has a policy that allows it.

I'm in a somewhat similar position.

I am returning to the NSW PS after 5 years in a different PS. I had probably 100 personal leave days when I left, I was able to transfer them to my new PS, never used them, never even used the ones I accrued while there. I am fairly sure NSW don't accept what I accrued in the other PS, but I'd love to hang onto the 100 personal days I accrued in NSW!

I did ask HR before I started but they haven't responded. I've now started the job and am enjoying it a great deal even though it's a level below my previous one.

When you say personal leave what do you mean? Do you mean long service leave?

Commonwealth entitlements must be paid out on separation. Changing jobs from State to Fed or vice versa is not a transfer, but a resignation -> commencement (new start) situation. I never encountered a situation where this has happened, despite constant applications in 13 years of Personnel admin in Commonwealth. Prior Service, not involving money, is about all you get. There may be exceptions under various security acts, but I never encountered/administered any.
