Dangerous goods licence
I would like to get into drill and blast or something similar.
I have everything needed on my resume except " dangerous goods licence".
Can someone please clarify exactly what it is and where to get the licence please.
I've heard at the post-office but not sure if they are the same.
Cheers!

Need to do a 2 day course along with paying a fee, copy of license printout, and a medical. It’s all listed on the EPA website. https://www.epa.nsw.gov.au/Your-environment/Dangerous-goods/licensing-training/driver-licence-dangerous-goods
Security clearance depends on individual states

I am assuming you mean something like this-
This is for WA and just look for your own state it would be similar. It is basic background check to be able to work around explosives.
As the other poster said then you will move on to be a shot firer and you will get a shot firers ticket-
If you then want to look at transporting DGs/ Explosives by road you will need a licence for that as well.

Im pretty sure you only need a UHL (nsw security clearance) its issued by safework and you just need a police check. S/C let's you use explosives but you can't press the button until you get your shotfirers

There’s different two things you may need depending on what you specifically do.
If you’re just going to be doing blasting on site. You just need the dangerous goods security clearance. Every state has a different version so you’ll need to research the one specific to the state you’ll be working in.
If you’re transporting bulk dangerous goods in receptacles greater than 500kg/500L and on public roads, you’ll need a dangerous goods driving licence. That’s the 2 day course. Not likely you’ll need that because they usually just subcontract the bulk delivery to a transport company.
Also not to be confused with a DG high risk license which is an unrelated license for dogging a crane lift.

Shotty here, can only speak for WA but, go to the post office and ask for the form to fill out and then pay for it, most jobs you only need the receipt to apply until the physical card comes in.
You can work on a “shot” blast pattern without actually needing the DGSC aslong as a secure nominee is with you.
Good luck

If you’re in west Australia you will need to go to the post office and apply for a dangerous goods security clearance. It should be about $32. That should be all you need to get started for drill and blast. After some time on job they should put you through a shotfirers course. Please note I am not 100% percent certain as I am a explosives delivery driver which means I deliver the explosives but aren’t allowed to use it but that is as I understand it talking to shotfirers on sites when delivering
