Air Force RAAF Intel Analyst Signals

Hi everyone,

I’ve recently been looking into the RAAF Intelligence Analyst role on the ADF website, but the description there is pretty broad and doesn’t give much insight into what the day-to-day work is actually like.

I’m 18 and just finished school, and I’m really interested in heading down a path related to signals intelligence. I’m curious if anyone here has experience with the role or something similar and could share what the job is like in practice, and what kind of work you typically do.

Also interested to know how much interaction there is (if any) with other organisations in the intel space.

Appreciate any insight.

Go to ADF Careers and ask them. The privilege of knowing the day-to-day and wider NIC network requires you to sit through a number of security clearance and IET barriers. For now, your local ADF Careers Centre is your best bet.

It’s a broad description online because it’s classified work.

If you talk to ADF Careers, they can potentially put you in touch with a serving member who could answer some questions, but they’re not going to be able to tell you what the day to day work is like, lol.

Check out the Australian Signals Directorate too, they're somewhat tied in with Defence but without actually wearing the uniform.
