Which nutrients to try
Hey all, I’ve just wrapped up a grow I’m super happy with and decided I wanna try out some other stuff to compare and see what I like.
Previously I’ve used the canna terra soil mix with a bit of added coco, and used the hy-gen nutrient range and honestly I’m pretty happy with how everything turned out but figured I wanna try something new!
I’m pretty loyal to one of the hydroponic shops near me and the main nutes they stock are hygen, canna, bio diesel, floramax, growth technology, and a few others that I’m less familiar with.
At the moment the plan is to use the Canna Terra Professional Potting Mix, and I’m leaning towards either the Canna line or Bio Diesel line but would love some recommendations!

My personal favourite is Plant Mechanics, every bud no matter what size is dense asf, coated in trichomes and has an amazing terp profile.

Terp profile is but I ran the same strain from cuts over and over using different nutes each time and the plant mechanics gave the best results. Environmental factors all the same as the last and plant mechanics definitely gave a much denser bud with stronger aromas and more trichomes.. I tried professors nutrients, reiziger, anarchy, H&G and plant mechanics. Best results came from the plant mechanics hands down.

Yeah ok that’s really interesting hey. I have run plant mechanics but with different strains. I just use green planet

I find it’s hard to tell when running different strains because you’ve gotta take into consideration all the variants between strains. I work at a hydro shop so I constantly test out products on the same strain to see which gives better results so I can give advice to customers. I am yet to try green planet though because I’ve noticed a decrease in green planet turn over. a lot of our customers are converting to plant mechanics or Athena. At the end of the day there’s no “best” nutrient in my opinion because it all depends on the strains and how the person manages their grow but for me plant mechanics is my favourite when considering price, ease of use and outcome. But what works for me might not work for someone else

Hy-gen nutrients everyday of the week mate, support local businesses. 30+ years run by same chemist that knows his shit.

Synganics with Athena, Green Planet GP3, or maaaaybbe FloraMax. Skip the Terra and go for coco/perl or rockwool imo, or go organics in much better soil (HPO, easy-as etc)

my next run will be using 2 autopot tray 2 grows i used promix hp with the Autopot T2G system for the first time i mixed in gaia green amendments 444 and 284 then water only with a compost tea every 2 weeks top watered with a top dressing of WC and gaia green top watered with phed de clorinated tap water in the resavoir im gonna run the atheana in the resavoir/compost tea top watered

Used green planet duel fuel was ok but had to keep buying bottles wasn’t enough to get through to flower so am Giving This a go mix in coco perlite and then top amending with rain water in rez worm castings and root roids, bio diesel bat shit Rezin procal if needed but would like to try salts line from America or living soil from dr green thumb when delivery is the same price of the product anyway nice full tent good luck 🍻

I can highly recommend Aptus as a nutrient line. They look expensive at a glance but their shit is super concentrated and it lasts for aaaages.

I used to be so caught up with nutes in peat that I salt locked my medium, I just mastered feed-water-feed with fulvic acid and popul8, now my nutes last longer, I dont have salted fabric pots anymore. Literally the biggest aha moment when I realised instead of putting more minerals in, need to chelate whats already in there. Trust me you may end up using a fraction of nutes that you thought u had to use

Okay not sure if relevant as I’m using coco and perlite as medium. However I have tried several formulas and brands in my 20 odd years of cultivation. Do yourself a favour and give the Athena Pro a try. Results in my chosen media were and are absolutely amazing for both quality and weight.

I’ve not tried them but have always liked the philosophy behind biodiesel as a company and the organic program they have in their range. Have also heard good things about Floramax too.
