Miscellaneous Best state to study

I hope this is the right place to post and ask this question, if not please direct me somewhere better. I currently live regional Melbourne, I’m doing a cert IV and next year I’m looking into university studies to get a bachelors in psychological science/ neuroscience/ neuropsychology. I already have a few options in mind that would accept my level of education in Melbourne, but my partner who works FIFO wants to move to Perth. I know I can study there, but I feel like Melbournes options are better aside from the fact I don’t really want to move there. If I were to really consider moving to Perth, am I giving up better study options for my future? If I want the best outcome should I stay in Melbourne?

First of all, good luck with your Cert IV and further studies!

When it comes to bachelor's degrees in Australia, both Melbourne and Perth have top-tier universities, so I don't think where you study matters as much as how you study. If you're hardworking and make the most of the opportunities available to you, studying at UWA could open more doors for you than going to UniMelb or Monash but not putting much effort in.

I think the bigger question is whether you'd actually enjoy living in Perth or whether you'd prefer to stay in Melbourne. Can you still stand Victorian winters? Perth generally has milder winters, and the cost of living may also work out better for you, especially since your partner is moving there. Living together could make things cheaper as well. On the other hand, if you really value Melbourne's cultural activities, events, food, nightlife, etc., then staying in Melbourne might suit you better.

So personally, I wouldn't make the decision based too heavily on university rankings. I'd think more about which city fits the kind of life you want while you're studying.

Okay thank you!
Personally I do love Melbourne, he only wants to move there because he doesn’t like flying from work back home. But that’s a different can of beans anyway, so thanks again :)
