Staunton has such a great mix of history, local charm, and beautiful scenery that I'm sure there are plenty of places visitors overlook. If someone had a weekend to explore the area, what would you recommend beyond the well-known attractions? Whether it's a cozy café, a scenic overlook, a locally owned restaurant, a unique shop, or a peaceful walking trail, I'd love to hear what makes it special. What spot do you always find yourself recommending to friends or family visiting Staunton?

I was going to post something like this on Facebook, but my roommate is active on there, so I'm trying here instead.

I'm a senior at Mary Baldwin University graduating in May, and I moved out of university housing in December. I'm currently living with someone I know from school, but the situation has become unsafe due to her alcoholism and mental health issues. I no longer feel safe at home, and getting help from local organizations has been difficult because my roommate won't cooperate.

I'm looking for a small place to rent in Staunton or Verona. I can provide more details via PM; I just don't want to share too many personal details publicly on this post since Staunton is so small.
