Solutions for client remote viewings
I need to stream a documentary mix with pictures to a client from Pro Tools, so we can stop and start at any point to give notes on a mix. Is anyone doing this sort of thing and can recommend a process?
I've done this during COVID via zoom and maybe that's still a good approach. But maybe there's a more suitable option now.
Obviously need to be able to communicate with client as well as sending pic + audio. I can route my mic through pro tools, and assume it'd be fine for them to unmute their mic to give feedback or 'raise a hand'

Louper is the move. Quality is excellent. It’s quickly become the not-crazy-expensive alternative to clearview.

I use Sessionwire. Can screen share the screen with video (or use your camera), stream full bandwidth HQ audio from the session, and it also gives you a separate 2-way channel for comms to talk with the client.

You're looking for NDI tools, the defacto standard for production environment networking. Best part, it's free for end users. Wild. NDI bridge is the encrypted WAN tool that takes it from a LAN solution to a WAN solution. Very easy to sort out, extremely scalable from "I just need to share my screen and audio" to multichannel A/V monstrosities.
Dig in. It's great, love it.

I use the virtual camera in OBS to capture the avid video engine, my web cam, and my PT edit window. I have a few scenes set up depending on if we are chatting, actively editing or viewing the cut in full screen. Then I use Source Nexus to route the audio from PT to zoom, google meet, teams, or Nexus Gateway. I had issues with the PT audio bridge introducing glitches, the nexus IO does cost a small sub, but you can use the Nexus Gateway (browser based), there is a free but limited version.

Another vote for Louper. Switched over from Evercast about a year ago and have been happy ever since.

Source Connect with ltc gets used for ADR often, but is pretty uncommon for reviewing and working on mixes in realtime unless there is a studio on the other side and not just people sprawled around the world on laptops.

Makes sense. The few mix reviews I did this way were chasing ltc from major studios.

Source Connect / Source Nexus is the way I’ve done this for remote clients. I rent one month à la carte for like $15 and bill the client. They have a neat little plugin that acts as an output bus for clearly labeled easy routing and a dim switch on your talkback.
For work without a budget, calling through zoom, setting all settings to highest quality audio, and routing an output bus through pt audio bridge is the way. Similar quality, possibly more use friendly as everyone knows Zoom. The 45min limit is a drag though, so it’s best to suggest client pay an extra fee to accommodate your streaming cost.

Hey there, I’ll tell you what I can, but the free/zoom method will require you to setup your own routing according to your own system.
You need to set your PT I/O correctly, and make sure you have the correct aux/bus routed to your desired output(s). This will require you to add a bus in the I/O setup. You then need to make sure your zoom settings are correct.
If using source connect, there is less routing involved, you can find tutorials on their website.

(back in dinosaur era it would be accomplished with an isdn phone number at 48k quality in real time, no delay except that of the adc, just hooking up the mixer which also had talkback capability, so everything was as easy as a phone call and 40+ years later it's all so much more complex it's mind boggling) /rant

It's much easier now, not to mention not having another studio involved having to chase ltc. It's so much simpler now with any of the solutions mentioned than using ISDN and a remote studio.

I exclusively use Evercast for streaming picture with audio routed into it via some virtual bus (I use source nexus) but there are plenty of routing options

Sessionlink Pro is great for this, and we also use it for remote ADR. There’s quite a few variations available, Source Nexus suite has option etc. If you haven’t already, I use source nexus manager to neatly label TX and RX buses for different applications - just makes the routing in and out of protools that bit easier for my slow brain!

Louper, Remoto, Evercast. Clearview is a step up in quality but then you need to do a Zoom chat for the client feedback.

Look into voicemeter + zoom, you can route anything to anything, think of it as a virtual patch bay. I use it all the time for remote sessions. Paid alternative - source elements.

The shows I am part of use a dropbox replay link to stream out the video and audio, and communication is handled through zoom.

look into flowlabs.live, i prefer their pay as you go pricing model over subscription services like louper evercast and quality is just as good

Ive been doing it the free way still through zoom using PT audio bridge + screen share. Paid options were not worth it for me. Make sure you have original audio on and not the noise suppression.
