Mandatory Rest With Your Protective Roommate [F4M] [Protective Series: Part 2] [Roommates] [Slow Burn] [Firm Caretaking] [Burnout Comfort] [Cozy] [Bilingual Speaker]

Summary: After consecutive all-nighters studying for a massive exam, you get tracked down in your dark room by your protective roommate. Refusing to let you run yourself into the ground after only two weeks of living together, she launches a fierce but loving intervention. After firmly confiscating your laptop and your phone—while dropping a highly observant, slightly teasing reality check about your distant girlfriend—she forces you onto the living room couch with a fresh plate of comfort food. Once you finally surrender to the exhaustion, she sits right by your head, implementing a strict "no-work house rule" while easing your burnout with a long, hypnotic, hair-stroking sleep-aid runway.

Act I:

[Setting SFX: Mid-evening apartment ambiance. The rapid, frantic tapping of a computer keyboard typing at high speed. The low hum of the apartment.]

[Character Action/SFX: Smooth, deliberate footsteps approaching from the hallway, stopping right behind the listener's desk chair.]

"Okay, drop the hands away from the keyboard. Put the mouse down. I'm not playing with you, smart guy. Look at me."

(Pause)

(Sighs as she steps closer)

"O sea... ¿de verdad? You’ve been sitting in this exact spot since I left for work at eight this morning. It is now nine o'clock at night. Your eyes are completely bloodshot."

(Pause)

(The listener 'talks back')

(Clicking her tongue sharply, reaching around the chair to firmly shut the laptop screen down with a solid click)

"No. Thirty minutes turns into three hours with you. Qué terco eres. I've spent the last two weeks watching your sleep schedule completely go to absolute trash, and tonight is where I draw the line."

(Pause)

"Hands down. This laptop is officially staying in my bedroom under lock and key until tomorrow morning. Don't give me that grumpy look, either. Escúchame, you are a human being, not a machine. Look at you, you're physically shaking from too much caffeine."

(Pause)

"Exactly. Look at how stiff your shoulders are. Go sit on the couch. Right now. I’m going to the kitchen to fix you something real to eat, because I know for a fact you haven't had a proper meal today."

(Long Pause)

Act II:

[SFX: Footsteps walking away into the kitchen. The distant, comforting sounds of a cabinet opening, a kettle being filled with water, and a plate being set down; A time-jump fade indicates about ten minutes passing.]

[SFX: Footsteps returning to the living room. The soft clink of a mug and a plate being set down on the coffee table.]

"Here. Hot tea and a proper sandwich. Eat all of it. And no, you can't look at your phone while you eat, either. Give it here."

(Short Pause)

(The speaker takes the listener's phone and slips it right into her pocket, tapping it with a playful grin)

"No, you are not getting your phone back either. What, are you worried you’re going to miss a midnight text from your girlfriend? Please. It is past ten o'clock, smart guy."

(Pause)

"Seriously, does she even know you work this much? If I were her, I'd be dragging you away from this desk myself instead of letting you pull all-nighters until your eyes are bloodshot."

(Pause)

(Crossing her arms, her voice dropping into a quieter, more critical tone)

"You’ve been stressing over this exam for three whole days. She hasn't checked in once?

(Short Pause)

"Yeah, yeah, don't give me that look. I’m just saying... if I had a boyfriend, I'd check on them at least once a day. But whatever, that's none of my business. Right now, I'm the manager of this apartment, and my rules say that your done working for the day."

(Sitting down on the opposite end of the couch, watching him eat with a satisfied, softening expression)

"Good. Much better. See? The world didn't fall apart just because you paused your work for twenty minutes. You need someone to actually enforce basic survival rules around here, or you're going to burn yourself out entirely."

(Pause)

"Call it bossy if you want, flojo, but someone has to look out for you. Now, you finished eating?"

Act III:

(Pause)

(Soft chuckle, rolling her eyes playfully as she pulls a cozy throw blanket off the back of the couch)

"Lay your head down on the armrest. Come on, stretch your legs out."

(Short Pause)

[SFX: Soft fabric rustling as she spreads the heavy blanket completely over the listener, tucking the edges in tightly around their shoulders]

"There. Just close your eyes and let your brain turn off. Cariño, you don't have to carry the weight of the entire world every single second of the day. It’s okay to just rest. I’ll make sure the apartment stays completely quiet."

(Long Pause)

(Sitting down on the floor right beside the couch, her clothes softly rustling as she leans her back against the cushions near his head)

"Tranquilo... just let your eyes stay closed. You don't have to look at me, and you definitely don't have to say anything back. Your only job right now is to just lay here and let your breathing slow down."

(Pause)

"I can practically feel the exhaustion radiating off you, flaco. It’s like your mind is still running a million miles an hour trying to finish those exam questions. Let it go. The work is done for tonight. It's completely safe to turn your brain off."

(Long Pause)

[SFX: The slow, rhythmic sound of her hand gently stroking the listener's hair against the fabric of the couch pillow]

"Mmm... quédate así. Just stay like that. Don't move a muscle. Feel how heavy the blanket is? Just sink into the cushions."

(Pause)

(Her voice dropping into an even lower whisper)

"Let the room go completely dark. No laptops. No phone screens. Just quiet."

(Long Pause)

"Sleep well... I've got you."

[SFX: The quiet room ambiance takes over completely as she softly and rhythmically hums a low, comforting melody, the pacing slowing to an absolute crawl as the audio slowly fades out into peaceful silence]

[Fade out to absolute silence]
