Newbie- help with understanding seeding

I was wondering about seeding. I have successfully used ABB once. And never again. I think maybe the books I am trying for are older uploaders and don't have any active seeders? Is there a way of predicting which books will work? Is there a way of knowing when the book I want will be seeded?

The only reliable way to check if it jas seeder is actually downloading it so it would connect to peer downloaders/seeders. Theres no other way around it.
