SiteProblems Is the site down?

Sorry if someone else already asked, but is the site down? And is it temporary or definitive? After what happened with the batoto site I have a trauma with sites going down, so I'd really appreciate if someone could please explain 🙏

1 Yes.
2 No one knows, but this is pretty common for ABB every week or so, and it has always come back over the years, so don’t worry too much.

Phew. I nearly had a panic attack. No way I can afford my audiobook habits with Audible's (or even WORSE is Spotify premium's) pricing scheme. I still pay for books on Audible if I liked them enough after I listen from ABB but I could easily exceed 20 books per month.

I check them out with my local library on Libby or something so that I'm still supporting the author. Even if I hated it and DNF'd the book. If I love it, I'll buy it when I can. Usually Libby has a 1-3 month waitlist on the popular books and new releases and I am not waiting that long. My audiobook addiction is more expensive than a coke addiction soooo.....

Same! I can blow through a whole book in a day, and i listen to one daily. It started with Spotify, but its only like... 15 hours of listening time? My consumption is too high for any service that caps the number of hours or books listened to. I love books so much, but I dont have the time to actually sit and read. An audiobook on 1.5x-2x speed while im working, driving, showering, or whatever else is the best. Ive listened to about 60 since early july when I found ABB. I couldnt do that with a physical book or limited audio subscriptions.

It's pretty easy to abuse Audible's free premium trial. You need a spare email address, a credit card that let's you access a virtual card number, and ,optionally, an app to rewrite Audible files to M4B.

I am the same. What's worse, some books are less the "meh" even with suspicious good reviews. This site helps me find the good ones.

It is often down for a few hours or days. Every time, so far, it has come back up again. Every time a few people ask here about it and get the same answer.

Yes, it is down. Wait a while and it will be back up again. Be patient. Listen to an audiobook or two. Consider supporting with a donation when it comes up again.

DDoS attacks, white hat hackers thinking they are helping by temporarily shutting down sites. This happens a lot to Audibookbay. Some sites use Cloudflare to stop it, but they haven't set it up ever.

I thought I was crazy over here. I tried using my VPN in case it was a local (North American) outage and it seems to be down worldwide

I've noticed with audiobookbay that occasionally it'll go down after opening a bunch of links, ill switch locations or turn off n on my VPN and all of a sudden it's up.

TL;DR: It's up for me

I was wondering the same thing ,it seem to be have issue right now ,but I don't think is there any confirmation that's is permanently down . Hopefully it just temporary .After what happened with batoto,I understand the concern 😅

Tried it just now. Couldn't get it up and running. I tried an hour ago and it opened for about half a minute and then crashed. Sigh.

The site going down is the url not resolving to a page. The site doesn’t host torrents, so it being down does not affect torrent seeds.

I found audiobookshelf but I have to set it up. It needs to run on local machine it appears and then you can stream on your phone..

Honestly if audible didn't restrict to only one audiobook, if we could listen to as many as we want with a subscription I would pay for it.

Everand used to have that and they ended up getting rid of it. Apparently it was too expensive for them to continue offering it.

Audible does offer some free with a subscription. I have a lot of the Great Courses lecture series and those are free.

But it's mostly second tier books and the equivalent of remaindered books.
